Just because someone is convicted of a felony does not mean the conviction counts as a strike. Not all felonies are strikes so ignore all the three-strike/life in prison stuff you're reading here.

In California, only serious felonies as defined in 1192.7 PC and violent felonies as defined in 667.5 PC are considered strikes (there are some juvenile adjudications that are considered strikes, but they're basically the kiddy versions of 1192.7 and 667.5). Lucky for crooks, that still leaves a lot of felonies that aren't considered strikes.

It's just not possible to answer your question without knowing an awful lot more than what you've provided here. There's probably more questions about your question than there's room for here. It isn't as if 15 felonies always equals a certain amount of years in prison...there are many, many variables that will have some bearing on the outcome and nobody here knows what the facts are surrounding what you're talking about.

Although the state assembly every so often tries to dillute the current law, I believe its still "three strikes and your out" (meaning life). Of course why should it be 3?. Why not 1 ? or 10? or 2 and a half? Or 5 or 6 "depending" ? Just goes to show how stupid politicians are that in order to make life even easier for themselves they adopt a tradition from a game. If you were the victim of felony # 3, you'd wish it had been "2 strikes and your out".

Hmmm., 15 huh? It all depends. The mandatory sentence is life after the third felony conviction; convicted being the key element. If 15 felonies are committed, but the person is not convicted on any of them, then there is no prison time. Judicial discretion, mandatory sentencing guidelines, pre-sentencing reports, etc., determine the length of incarceration for 1st and 2nd felony convictions. Also, if the person already has 2 convictions and is planning to continue a life in crime, he or she better accumulate the next 13 offenses in one shot. Again, after three(3) in CA, it's a mandatory life sentence.

Well, if there's a 3 strikes and you're out law there you are toast. Proabably are anyway. Probably were after the first couple. Oh well, good luck. If you should happen to ever see the light of day again, JUST SAY NO!
