How long do I have to press charges?

When I was three I was molested by my father. My mom took him to court but they said that there wasnt enough evidence to put him away. So the other day I decided to talk to him about it and he admitted after cussing me out. Can I still get him for child molestation since he admitted it?

I am not sure if there is a statue of limitions on that or not. That is something you would have to ask a lawyer about. I would think there would be none because that is a serious crime and I am sorry you had to go through that

That depends on what state you live in and what the statute of limitations is.

It isn't a recovered memory, so the time is delayed for that. You reported it in the first place.

The best you can do is report it to the police and let them decide.

How many years has it been? I wonder if the Statute Of Limitations (7 years) applies here? I know murder is not covered but I don't know about child molestation. Another thing, if it was just the two of you talking, there would be no witnesses and it would be your word against his.

you should have got it on tape. if it went to court he would deny it. being you were 3 at the time no judge would think you could even remember it.
