like a license plate number..................and if the person was on probation would police see that when they ran the plate number and then notify the person's PO that they are suspected of commiting a crime..............my friend was stealing to support his zanex habit and running out of stores, 3 months ago he hit this one store then when the alarm went off and they told him to stop he just walked out and drove away. So since that happened he has been scared that he will be caught and go back to jail but he never heard anything from police and when he saw his PO last few times they didnt know anything about it...........he even called to see if there were any warrants on him and there wasnt. So he is assuming that they probably arent pursuing him because they didnt get his plates or it just isnt worth it to prosecute over small items. But could they be taking over 3 months just to put out warrant and question him ?

Misdemeanors usually have 18 months to prosecute. But, depending on how much was stolen, it could be 3-5 years before the statute of limitations is up.
And if they already got a warrant and just haven't arrested you yet, there is no time limit.
Hope this helps. |

A warrant would never be issued for someone based on a license plate. 95% of the time "witnesses" get the plate # wrong. If they do get it right, the police would still have to investigate by interviewing the registered owner, have the store clerks ID him as the culprit, etc. |
