carrying a gun on your person was recently legalized in my state, and as a result, incidences of armed robberies and carjackings plummeted. Gotta fight fire with fire.
Even though I don't carry a gun, the thugs don't know that.
If my state didnt allow guns, I would have been robbed by now. |

Fine, you are in England. Try going to Compton, California, certain sections of Detroit, Michigan, or parts of Miami, Florida. There are plenty of reasonably safe places here in the USA, but plenty are not. It is illegal to carry a concealed weapon in the state where I live - it is not legal to carry a firearm in all states - the laws are different in each state. In other words, as I keep saying over and over, not all Americans are the same. Also, some of us might not like to say if we carry guns or not, because if we say "we might be" most folks will not mess with us... only the dangerous ones will try. |

Dude,
Chicken bones kill more people in America than handguns do.
The majority of handgun violence is done between people who know each other.
If they didn't have a gun, they would have done it with a knife, a bat, or a pillowcase filled with Morrissey albums.
Don't believe the media hype about superviolent Americans.
Just as I don't believe that all Brits are Skinheads or football hooligans. |

I carry a rifle on the back of my pick up. No tell-in when I might come across an ornery Mountain Lion or Moose or some-thin else I might hafta shoot on my way to work.
Most American Pick ups come with gun rack as standard equipment. |

All of us do...haven't you ever seen any John Wayne movies? Actually, probably not as many as you think. Why? Sometimes it a real stress release to go some place and shoot the heck out of a piece of paper. |

Yes I do, because unlike a subject, I am a citizen. I am happy you don't want one in England, funny thing is that after your country outlawed them, gun crime in metro areas actually went up and is staying up. Guess the old verbage about criminals and guns is true. Enjoy your self. |

Most Americans do NOT carry guns, despite what the world thinks, we do however defend our "Right to Bear arms", it was put in place by our forefathers to provide the opportunity for the people to overthrow the Government in case a Dictatorship takes over. Germany took all the guns away from the people in the 1930's, so the people would just have to accept the "Nazi's", when ever a government is overthrown by a dictatorship, the first thing that is ALWAYS done is to remove the weapons from the people so that they CANNOT REVOLT ! it's like a "FAIL SAFE" for the common people of a Fantastic, and FREE, country. Hey, we're NOT perfect but, I feel that it's still the best country in the WORLD to live in ! |

We're happy you get along just fine in England.
It's none of our business what you do or do not have available to protect yourself with. Much in the same way it is none of your business what we have over here.
It's almost comical, you rarely if ever see Americans imposing themselves into the private lives of Brits. Yet everyday we come across a Brit here on this message board that feels the need to insert themselves into our lives.
It has got to be a psychological flaw they possess. |

I've got a house full of guns.
Sure, you get along just fine without them in England. You've also got cameras, and even microphones, on every street corner to watch and listen to you. I've read that they've even installed speakers so the police can yell at you if they don't like what you're doing. You call that liberty? |

Another victim of Euro media, I don't know where you're getting your information but everybody in the US isn't walling around armed, or even a significant percentage, unfortunatly the people who seem to have the guns are the criminals. |

Almost no one carries weapons except criminals and cops. There are some exceptions, of course. No one I know carries a gun.
However, many people have guns at home.
And you'll be happy to learn that London has nearly 30% more personal assaults and muggings than New York City. You do not live in a safe country, my friend.
If guns were available to UK citizens, they would gladly arm themselves to protect themselves from the dregs that plague us all. |

Question 1. None of your business.
Question 2. Protection from wild animals and criminals.
I guess England doesn't have to worry about mountain lions and wolves. So stay in England unless your in Ipswich then I would thank God the police caught that guy slicing up women. |

Most of get along fine here in Canada without them too (must be the British influence). Most of our guns here are illegal and compliments of the US (we have strict gun control). He who lives by the gun shall die by the gun.
The following are percentage of murders done by hand guns
US 66%
Canada 34%
Australia 20%
UK 8% |
