How many people here are against the smoking of marijuana and can actually support their opinion?

I am an ex smoker. I never had anything against it, medically speaking it can work wonders. However like any addiction it can be destructive to someones life. Obviously not everyone who smokes it has an addiction or a problem but for some people who let it rule there lives it is a real problem. I was one of those people and if I didn't have it I was an outright *****, I wasn't happy until i got it. That is why I quit, so I am against it. I feel if you can handle your addiction and support yourself and not compromise your life for it then why not smoke it. But for anyone that is like I was it is evil and I would hate to see people act the way I did for it. I believe it did stuff to my head I was always fighting with my boyfriend, my family even wanted me to do something about my habit, and they smoked it to. I believe some people can smoke no problems others need to stay away from it

i lived with it. my ex husband was a marijuana addict - regardless of what any website may say, he was an addicted & did nothing else with his time outside of smoking it, cleaning his crap to smoke it in & finding ways to get more. his need for it was reason enough for a divorce. he's got a 6 year old son he hasn't spoken with in years, cuz he's more concerned about his drug then his son. keep it illegal. nothing good comes from it.

I can support my position in three words: it is illegal.

Although that statement is short, it simply can not be argued.

If that changes down the line, that's fine with me. However until then... it is illegal.

I've done research. The supply is unregulated, so there is no certainty of what is going into your body when you smoke. Marijuana also contains more carcinogens than tobacco, minus the filter. I think if people choose to smoke, it's their own business, but it should be regulated and controlled. If it was, there would be a huge boost to the US economy via taxing incoming shipments. As for me, no thanks.

Well I used to be a pot smoker and from my experience I could not do much of anything but stare off into space and eat everything in front of me.

I don't have a problem with cancer patients on it since it really numbs everything but do it at home and do not leave.

I have issues with people who smoke it and go to work or go driving, it is just as bad as getting drunk.

Some may say they can function just fine on it but ask yourself if you had a child on the road and was hit by somene who was high but said he was functioning fine, how would you feel?

Just because you think you do doesn't mean you are 100 percent aware of everything.

I vote against pot use.

Partly because marijuana possession is a crime in most US jurisdictions, and young people get caught up in a revolving life of crime because of it.

Also partly because folks tend to smoke pot and then do really stupid things like drive a car. (Admittedly, I'd rather someone who was stoned was driving [at 8 miles an hour] than someone who was completely sober and was texting or talking on a cell phone.)

I AM NOT AGAINST SMOKING POT. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I SEE IS GETTING BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A CAR AND DRIVING WHILE YOU ARE HIGH. MIX THAN IN WITH A FEW DRINKS AND YOU ARE ASKING FOR TROUBLE.

How do people get money to buy this stuff? I kind of doubt that they are working at soup kitchens and delivering groceries to old grannies. Also, where do you think the money from the drugs go? They help a rich drug lord kill and steal from even more people than he does right now. In my opinion, drug use is not being taken seriously enough; its not only you that you're hurting (because of cancer and emphasima and stuff) but also many people you don't even know. If this isn't enough to convince you, then what do you think would happen in a society where drug abuse was legal? Despite what some stoners may say, people won't just use it every once in a while. Life for everyone will be soley about getting high, and we'll end up with gangs fighting over marijuana supplies with police to drugged-up to do anything. And will anyone actually get anything out of their life, even if they don't smoke? No, because there will not be enough people to support an economy that will not involve drugs.

I see nothing wrong with marijuana unless it's overused by smoking constantly. I think using it to relax at night isn't much different from having a glass of wine without the calories. I believe that people who are against it have never tried it and don't understand how mild it is. Besides, I think if we could get all the fanatical muslims to relax and take a few hits, they would stop wanting to kill everyone and we just might have world peace.

I do not smoke marijuana but have tried, it makes me sick. I know it is bad for your lungs and I read somewhere it contains like 4 times as much tar as a cigarette, which cannot be good. However, I know a lot of people who do smoke marijuana and they are some mellow folks. My husband used to smoke a lot of weed until he failed a drug test at work which was back in 2005, he quit cold turkey so he could keep his job and oh my goodness, he truly was a monster after he quit, I am sure he was like anyone else would be with an addiction, but he used to be laid back, anything goes, and now still 3 years later he is uptight and a pain in the butt since he quit. I once worked for a very well known attorney who said if everyone in the world smoked weed the world would be a better place, I think I agree with him.

My research is living a long rich life. I have been around pot, and have even tried it a time or two (years and years ago). All know is that the people that I've personally been around that smoke pot (often) are lazy, boring, bums. That is indeed my opinion but I'm sticking to it. I know tons of people from all ages and geographic locations and truly I know from which I speak. ONLY the people that continue to smoke pot are the ones that can't hold a job and somehow have never grown up.

The times I tried it (in the 70's) I felt terrible and never had the "good" high feeling. I just felt dumbed down and lazy. Not a way I want to live my life.

From personal experience of smoking pot, I see that it mainly has negative effects. Obviously, it makes you feel different which usually is good (or sometimes paranoid and bad). It changes who people really are and makes them into a different person (which isn't a good thing). For a lot of people it makes them lazy and careless about a lot of things. Most of the people I knew who continued to smoke either went no where or went downhill in life. Factually, I couldn't tell you in scientific terms, but realistically don't need to use science to determine it after personal experience and what I observed. I truly don't believe in needing anything that alters reality to have fun. Honestly, I am surprised alcohol is legal.

Weed is a fantastic medicine. I think they should decriminalize marijuana use. People shouldn't get in trouble for smoking pot, so I am going to take a hit for having a choice on how one should live their life.

If there is a mind-altering drug that is illegal and not monitored for it's safety and use, how does it chemically react in a physical body? If it works similar to alcohol, wouldn't it be killing brain cells?

well, i used to smoke.
i stopped due to my boyfriend,
and i think it should be completley legal.
caffine is more addicting.
people are gonna get high no matter what.
legal or not.
but, why not make the goverment stop spending so much money against it.
seriously.
weed.
is amazing.
and anyone who opposes it obviously hasn't ever toked up.

I am against it because smoking anything is dumb and bad for your health.
Regardless, it isnt my job to defend why something should be illegal, its the job of those who want to legalize it to prove why it should be.

You can go to a doctor for Pain meds and people just abuse them till there's no tomorrow. ecspecially, driving, working, or taking care of children (or neglecting them) smoking some weed is such a BIG deal. You smoke it, Watch t.v then go to sleep BIG DEAL
