I am 18 enlisted in the Marine Corps and I was wondering if I could buy and carry (open carry) a side arm? I've heard everything from no way to yes but you cant have one chambered. enlighten me please

yeah i was wondering, i wanna be a Marine. I figured anybody in the military should be allowed to carry a side arm, because there safe with it. |

to purchase and carry a side arm you mst be 21. someplaces also require a concealed carry permit and it does not matter if you actually do conceal the weapon, but if it is considered consealable. for reference an eaighteen year old may in most places carey around a loaded ar-15 but not a 6 shot .22 revolver. |

You have to be 21 to legally purchase or carry a sidearm nationwide.
And open carry in any inhabited place is a stupid idea, legal or not. |

Depends on the state. In Arizona, yes. As long as you don't enter a place where they sell alcohol. Cool huh. Made me almost go out and buy one, then I came to my senses. |

In Arizona, it is legal to carry a loaded handgun, openly or concealed, at 18 years of age.No permit is required. This is also true in Alaska and Vermont, except the age in Vermont is 16.
To purchase a handgun from a retail establishment, in any state, federal law requires the purchaser to be 21 years of age. Despite what piegowdealer said, it is currently unlawful to open carry in either Texas or Florida. Open carry in Texas has been illegal since 1871.
Unlicensed open carry is legal in a number of states and still more states allow holders of concealed-carry permits to open carry, as well. |
