There's no such thing as a "gun license" in the US. Perhaps you mean a concealed carry permit? That varies by state but is generally 21 if the state has concealed carry at all. |

in my state Michigan, you must be 16 and have had hunters safety course. if you don't have the course certificate you must be 18. but for a hand gun you must be 18 no matter what. |

What is this gun license you speak of? It depends on the state as to the ages needed (usually 18 for longarm, 21 for pistol. This is because those are the ages needed to buy the respective ammo according to federal law). Most states do not require a license to purchase a firearm, just proof of age. Many states require a license to carry a handgun, and that is usually 21, with some states having it be 18. |

As stated there is no such thing a a license. Some states so burden you with things like a firearms ownership ID card however.
Most states will allow you to purchase a long gun at the age of 18 and a pistol at the age of 21. Currently 48 of 50 states have some type of concealed carry permit. In 40 states they are "shall issue" but in the other 8 they are "may issue" where you have to convince the state that you are worthy of protecting yourself.
