How to deal with false workplace rumors?

i work in a retail store. there is a cashier who is way older than me i mean way older not attracted to her at all. at christmas time she brought in some baked goods and it was awesome. and i told her i liked it very much....a few months later at my birthday she said she would make me some. that sounded good to me so that day she came by work called from her car to let me know i could come get it so i went out and got it. i thought it was nice enough that i should give her a hug while she was in her car so i hugged her through her car window.....so when i turned around to go back to work with my present one of my co workers was watching me from a distance...it must have looked like i was kissing her...now people think we are having an affair..YIKES ......its been an amusing rumor but i just wish it would go away...what to do

People talk no matter what. You know there is nothing between you and the lady so don't worry what anyone else thinks. If you should over hear something then simply say think what you wish cause you will anyway, and leave it at that.
I have found that majority of the time the one who starts rumors is the one most jealous.

People will indeed think what they may..you know the truth and the other co worker knows the truth, that is what matters..gossip is damaging..sorry that you have to experience such a thing

i would suggest to let them see u with your partner while kissing her ( him) but make sure that the older lady, they think u are having an affair with, see u as well. they will put 2 and 2 together and eventually realize that they were wrong and they will stop
