Talk to a lawyer, but you might be more apt to get a settlement if you ask for money for therapy. If you don't think you will need it, talk to a therapist once & find out. It is rather hard to prove at this point, unless you know of anyone else he may have done this too. Abusers rarely stick to one conquest. Other than that, get into counseling now..it will help you later. |

Yes,
You need to either talk to your parents, or a school couseler. He will continue to do it to kids until someone stops him.
It is NOT too late. |

I am so sorry this happened to you. No one deserves to be treated like that. You can still press charges. Your best bet is to talk to an adult, like your Mom or Dad about it. Tell them you were too afraid to say anything then because you just didn't understand. You are old enough to understand now and you are suffering from it. Sadly, it happened to me too, but it was my older brother. You may do well with some counseling. Good luck. |

Tell everyone... If you don't resolve this, it will affect every relationship you ever try to have in the future.. Any guy that cares about you will be hurt. That wouldn't be good for anyone.. Tell everyone, starting with your parents.. Seriously
6 years isn't too late.. People like this expect you to not say anything, so delayed reporting is common..
Do this for you |

try and talk to someone first..maybe your parents. they might know whats the best thing to do..but i think you could...and you should! people like them shouldn't be walking around they should be in jail! |

It's not too late, but it would be very difficult to prove. At least you should tell your family. |

Not sure about the legal stuff but you should tell your parents so this person doesn't do it to other children. |

Even if he doesn't go to jail, at least he will have a public record and won't be as easy to abuse others. It needs to be made public. |

If he did something to you, it's highly likely he did something to someone else, or will. If you are willing to go through the trouble, then you should always report something like that. Just look at those people who sued the Catholic Church decades later. If you are the only one he did anything to, then there isn't necessarily a high chance he will go to jail, but you might give someone else the courage to stand up to him also. |

Yes you can still press charges. The odds of him spending time in prison is really high. Talk to someone, you need to see a counselor concerning this issue. Take it from a victim, it will just keep eating away at you and affect future relationships. |

You can press charges and he will serve several years for molesting you and will have to register in your state and any other state he resides in when he gets out of jail. Call the police and get started. |

yes please tell a responsible adult that you trust what has happened to you..they will most likely follow up with the police and put the person away!
Best wishes to you. |

Its never too late...my sister had my uncle charged with rape 8 years after it happened. It was a hard battle for her but she received a lot of support and got through it and he is now in jail for the next 6 years at least.
If you can talk to your mother go and tell her now. Get this off your chest. If you cant get the phone book out and ring a rape crisis centre they will tell you exactly what you need to do.....He needs to be punished and you need justice and help. Good luck pet x |

yes you can. you may find that there where others and you are not the only one! Be brave! Be strong! You are not at fault - he is! Please talk to your highschool councilor- they can help you!!!!!! |

You can still press charges, and I would encourage you to talk to your mother about it as soon as possible. The odds of him spending any time in jail are fairly good depending on what he did to you. Talk to your mom sweety. |

Ignore any idiot trying to discourage you, what happened to you was very wrong and not your fault at all anyone who tells you otherwise is afraid they will get in trouble. you need to go to someone you trust, an older friend/brother/sister a teacher or one of your parents. Talk to them first so that you will have the support you need before you go to the police. That will make things slightly easier to cope with. You have every right to press charges that right does not expire for ten years and of course it was natural for you to wait so long, you were only 8 years old when it happened. Don't be ashamed, you are very strong to have dealt with this on your own so long, and that man deserves everything he gets. Good luck |

I can't believe the insensitivity of a couple of your answerers. You should tell someone asap, doesn't matter for god sakes you were only 8 yrs old, you didn't know what to do. Tell someone. |

you can still go to that police in most states people go years after the police understand you are OR were young and it takes time to understand that be strong be safe tell your mom and or dad good luck and i hope he rots in jail or someplace that rhymes with it anyway |

Well there is no type of proof right now that he did molest you so if you was to go to the police it would be your word against his and he wouldn't spend any time in jail because of no proof. I do forensic science and i work with police. You should talk to your parents and try to talk to a professional it doesn't mean your crazy it just mean you need help with issues and pray god will help you and give u strength |
|

?

Yes you can still turn him in. Go to the police and report it. Hopefully they will have a chance to still convict him although it may be difficult without physical evidence. If he isn't caught he will do this again to someone else. People that do this don't tend to stop doing it unless they are made to. |

u can press charges any time u feel ready
i would seek help through a legal-aid society and or a women's self help center or the councilor at your school
i'm sorry u have to go through this but it is good to face the truth it will help u to get free of any anger/guilt/shame...stuff |

yes absolutely you can and should, if he did it to you he can do it to others, my cousin was abused by her brother between the ages of 7 to 10 and she is now taking him to court and she is in her thirties, get some help call child line or talk to a teacher if you can"t go to your parents. Good luck and have courage. |

Yes, and don't listen to people who tell you to forget it. He will probably do it again to someone else.
Be prepared, in cases I've known and heard from others the person reporting the crime is often made into the bad guy. Seen as going against or breaking up the family. That should not stop you, you are in the right to report it. |

course you can i've heard of people pressing charges later on in life for the same thing as you,,,,, you really should tell someone and sort it out once and for all because its not fair you having to live with this and not telling anyone , if you can't tell your parents confide in a close friend or aunt they will understand .....he should be locked up for what he's done because he could go on to do this to someone else hope i've helped anwser your question and that you get it sorted out. = ]
HE CANT DENY IT BECAUSE LIE DETECTER TESTS ARE ALMOST EVERYTIME RIGHT ! |

Yes of course! You need to tell your parents are a adult who you can trust. He should pay for what he did to you . Alot of kids end up paying all there life for some one elses sick actions. When I mean by paying with there life,I mean not being able to grow up with a healthy mind frame. Yes he will do time and yes its time for something to be done. You will not be able to move on with life until something happens to him. This will always be in the back of your mind but at least you know you are safe for him. Speak up! Speak up for your self and other kids who go through these types of things . Please tell your parents are someone you can trust. |

First of all, contact DDS or Pressley Ridge. Tell them. they will help direct you.
The laws are changing every day. Some States it's after 7 years. Others, there is no limit.
But I would also seek counseling, my dear. That is something that you will carry for the reat of your life, and you have to learn the ways to deal with it. |

you can still press charges but you might not be able to prove it. i think you should because it will help you to start healing by getting it out in the open also even if he doesn't go to jail hell be so embarrassed he'll want to crawl under a rock. maybe if you do, someone else he did it too will come forward and he'll probably get some time in the slammer. DO IT! |
