I'm taking a ticket to court for a charge I did not commit, what should I do?

I'm taking a ticket to court for a charge I did not commit, what should I do?

I was with my friend at around 9:45pm in downtown Nashua NH and he told me to change lanes. So I changed lanes but I revved my engine as I changed lanes because I like to hear my intake. Apparently the police officer who heard the intake didn't like it. He pulled me over and asked for my license and registration. I did everything you're supposed to do when you get pulled over. I'm also in the U.S. Army so I flashed my military I.D. when I pulled out my drivers license (I keep my military I.D. in front of my drivers license). The police officer told me he was going to write me up for reckless driving, which shocked me I was expecting a warning, then the officer said it was my lucky night so he was going to charge me with tailgating so I could get a small fine of $100. The only problem was I never tailgated anyone and I know the officer gave me the charge of tailgating to lessen the fine, there were no cars in front of me or around me at the time, I know this for a fact because I was at the front of the intersection at a red light when the cop pulled up to me so it would have been impossible for me to have "tailgated" someone. I'm taking this ticket to court but I'm not sure if I should go with the cop's fake story or to go with the real story of me revving my engine. I know the cop hooked me up with a tailgating charge, he knows I didn't tailgate anyone. I'm not sure what my story should be in court. I live in Massachusetts and this incident happened in New Hampshire. I can't afford a higher insurance rate I have to get this ticket dismissed. Please help!

He cut you a break since he saw the military ID. It is a huge pain in the butt and takes more paperwork to process a service members ticket if he had given you a reckless. A reckless would have killed you insurance wise.

I am military by the way.

The officer did you a HUGE favor. Step into court and explain that you like to rev your engine and you will be toast as that will just back up the officer's story.... making you look like a putz. Just being honest soldier.

As far as the tail gating thing the judge will believe the officer's testimony. So you have the ticket and own it. Maybe not right but you drew attention to yourself.

Just be guilty and pay it. It will not impact your insurance much at all. Traffic school can alleviate much point wise. $100 is nothing compared to what could have happened.

An aside is think next time. If you choose to move up in the ranks, have security clearances and all of that you need to think twice about this next time.

Trust me pay the ticket!!!! it will be cheaper in the long run!!

First thing is not to show off your noisy vehicle. The cop gave you a break , be a man and pay the ticket.
