They said my background wasn't qualified now, I've been there 19 mnths. and I'm considered 1 of the best workers there. How can they just get away with that. Shouldn't they have to pay some severence or something. This has just destroyed my life and my children. I'm unable to keep up my child support and the interest just keeps going higher and higher. I don't think a company should be able to tear peoples lives apart like that and not give an exact reason why. It's not fair, there should be some recourse. Hope someone can help

I don't think there is anything that you can do, as long as you weren't discrimintated against. I'm guessing that you were working at what's considered "at will" employment. It means that you can go as you please, but unfortunately, they can do the same for you. Definitely not fair, but unfortunately in the corporate world, everything is about the bottom line. |

Get over it. Move on. Find a new position. |

it depends. you should be able to collect some unemployment depending on the reasons for termination and your area's time requirements for a job and that.
3 backgroud checks????
was there issues in your past that could have showed up on those that would bring question into your capability to preform the job honestly or threaten those that you were working with......
i think you should be able to see the background check reports.... but i might be wrong
and people get let go from positions all the time
the best thing you can do is pick yourself up and try to find new employment and not whine |

That is why they are called Temp Agencies because they are only temporary. You are not helping your children or yourself by not getting back out into the world and finding a new job. You owe it to yourself and your children to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and go on with life..Now what are you waiting for.... Best of Luck!!! |

You are working for a temp agency, i.e. temporary employment. Regardless of your performance or how long you have been on the job, you are NOT a permanent employee of the company where you were assigned. Even if you were a regular employee, the employer would not have to provide you with a severance package.
I'm sorry that this has had a negative impact on your life and can completely understand, having been in a similar position in the past. The only recourse you have is to stop feeling sorry for yourself, stop looking for someone else to be responsible for you and go find another job.
Things will get better but you have to rebuild a positive attitude first.
Good Luck! |

why were you let go? And who fired you--the company you were temping for or the temp agency itself? |

nope, most of the US is on a "work at will" status. Either the employer or the employee can end it at any time without reason. |

just go's to show you that your past alway's catches up with you. see a lawyer and find out if there is recorse against the CO. but...... I doubt it. Co's ....once they find out about a shady past ( even though it might be a miner incident) dosen't wan't to take any chances. Hell, they even use credit checks to determine you insurance rates. |

Ridge,Background checks are VERY common among employers. Although you may be considered a good employee, your background could suggest otherwise. If there have been evidence of drug abuse, arrests or parole violations, the company may consider you unstable. They are simply looking out for their company and protecting their employees environment. They don't consider the daily struggles, commitments or obligations that you have within your personal life.Keep a positive mind and enhance your life by making good choices and decisions.Keep looking for employment.Pray and strive to be a better you. You can do it! |

Contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. They have a web site. I had a position, paste the background checks and was still let go after seven months because somebody called up and complained that I was working there. No reason given. I was told I had not recourse, because the employment agreement stated that I could quit, or they could let me go without notice. That was 11 months ago, and I still have not been able to get a job. Good luck and God's blessing |

when you were recruited were you asked about your past? If so and you gave them the information then they have no right to dismiss you now. On the other hand if you hid the information from them they can dismiss you. There are employment tribunals, equal opportunity and anti discrimination laws, you can always explore these avenues to seek resolution but I would ask if you'd really want to return given that these things although meant to be confidential, rarely are. |

I would contact an attorney who specializes in employment law in your area. I would definately collect unemployment. But perhaps they can be toasted for discriminatory employment practices. Perhaps civil rights have been violated....only a discussion with an attorney can find these charges. Good Luck. |
