ABSOLUTELY!! Yes you can. Texas is one of the few States that allows a minor to drink if with a parent or adult spouse.
§ 106.04. CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL BY A MINOR.
(a) A minor commits an offense if he consumes an alcoholic beverage.
(b) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the alcoholic beverage was consumed in the visible presence of the minor's adult parent, guardian, or spouse.

You're the designated driver till you're 21 unless your husband happens to own Texas. |

Very long ago there were laws that allowed minors to drink if they were in the company of an adult. That ain't so any more. |

Bonkers!

"my husbands permission"? very strange marriage
I asked a question a while back about being able to drinki at home. There is no question about drinking in bar. It id definately not legal underage. Otherwise all of my friends would just "get permission". |

I dont think you can drink at all until you turn 21. My brother is underage and when we go out to dinner with my parents he cant drink. |

I LOVE TEXAS!!! You are an emancipated adult when you get married, but bars reserve the right to refuse service to anybody no matter what |

Would you want your hubby going to jail for getting you a drink in the bar? That web site the poster listed about Texas statures I would not trust as it states to use the information at your own risk. You are better off waiting until you are 21 and keep any drinking to in your home. |

Not legally, no. But if you're with him the bartender may not care. Sad, but true |

No. Marriage does not make you 21, your birthdate does. There are many things you can do, but drinking is not one of them. Your husband can buy you alcohol and not "contribute to the delinquency of a minor," but he may be guilty of "serving a minor." Ask your friendly bartender, or a law enforcement officer, they will know. |

what, no. he can buy you booze to drink at home, but then you could still get a M.I.P. and he could get in trouble too. |

21 is the age to drink alcohol, period!*
*Exception....One of President Bush's daughters or Jeb Bush's daughters...they can also write prescription drugs, be released from court mandatory drug treatment centers early and be pardoned from any crime or criminal act! This has happened! |

you must be 21. it does not matter if your husband is 21 or gives u permission. or u can just try asking the bartender for a drink and see if he gives it to u. |

Most likely not. However, many states allow a person under the age of 21 to consume alcohol in their own residences.
check it out. |

nope, they cannot serve alcohol to anyone under 21. some place just won't card, which they can get in trouble for. Until you turn 21, have him buy it and drink at home responsibly.
In reference to Texas law, you can consume, but you still cannot go to a bar or restaurant and order alcohol. It only applies in private residence. |

No, not if you are in a bar, you would have to be 21, nit only can you get in trouble (minor in posession) your husband can get in trouble and the bar that served you can be fined and lose thier liquor license.
Anyways most bars will check your ID and when they see your not 21 you will have to leave. If you are at home then you can, but not in public. |

No. The legal term relevant here is "emancipation" and it doesn't apply to state's drinking laws. Gotta wait, baby. You don't want to hang out in some seedy bar. Make him bring home a bottle of champagne instead. ;) |

No !! Please don't do it. Not only will your husband be in trouble, but the establishment that you're drinking in can be fined or possible closed down.
You sound very selfish. You know you're underage so why question the law? |

I hate when people comment on something before they do their research. In Texas, it just so happens that if your husband is 21 and you are under his supervision, you can leagally drink. Look it up. |

I have my TABC and worked at a bar for several years. It is the restaurant/ bars discretion to allow a minor to drink with their spouse or parent. The drink can never be left alone with the minor (ie. if the spouse or parent goes to the restroom). Most bars don't allow this...unfortunately my sister is a minor married to a guy of legal age. Most restaurants are pretty lax though. |
