I am tecnically guilty of theft. Should I own up ?

I always have to pay and if I did it by mistake would pay next time. I remember one day years back when I went into the local shop and they gave me fifty pence to much change which I returned,I was not thanked just glared at! The very next shop gave me five ponds to much and again I pointed out the mistake. Then I went into the bank and they gave me fifty pounds to much,I went out of the bank and wrestled with my conscience for a minute but returned that as well. I really feel I was being tested that day what do you think ?

You're not technically guilty of theft. You are guilty of petty theft. There's nothing technical about it.

I would feel extremely guilty. What if someone stole something from your basket after you had paid for it? The commandment says, 'Thou shalt not steal'. It doesn't say it is okay to take something trivial. Having stolen something that makes you a thief. How would you like someone to face you and say you are a thief. No. You wouldn't. If it were me, I would return to the store, say it was an oversight and pay for the candy. That way your conscience will be clear and you can look the world in the face.

I suppose the way around it would be to wait a few hours, and take a dump in the store toilet. Then you've not technically removed any product from the shop - you've merely converted it into a slightly less-appetising form, and left it in an alternative location.

If the queue was 5 minutes long I think I would eat two Crunchie bars a Mars Bar and a Buzz Bar.

nearly everytime i go shopping i get something for my little boy to eat around the shop.

sometimes i keep the wrapping and other times i dont.

like someone else said, i dont think a crunchie will make tesco bust do you.

i spend between Â£60 and Â£80 when i do my weekly shop so the odd Â£1 out of it is nothing is it and if they do say anything i would just say i forgot, "sorry"

That's very naughty lol. I would feel guilty. Have you thought about the cctv, they may be waiting for you next time you go in. It is theft because you didn't pay for it.

That's shoplifting. Shoplifting is a crime. Even calling it "petty" theft is still theft.

Just pay for the candy next time you go in. Just tell the cashier you ate the thing, don't have to say when.

I also reckon the checkout person you go to will think you're mad and if anything you'll just be making more work for her as she tries to work out what the hell you're saying.

legally it is theft, but we've all done it my friend!! I've even snacked on a packet of biscuits WHILE I was shopping!! 5 years each for us!

I think you are feeling guilty. Pay up at the customer service till next time you go in. They will be amazed at your sheer honesty in owning up and instead of feeling guilty you will feel good.
