Don't do meth. |

You can check yourself in, right now, to a reputable rehabilitation center. Then go to your boss and be honest and straightforward about your drug use. You may want to open up to him/her about any other problems it has caused you, so he knows you are aware you have a problem. Then give him evidence of your treatment plan and goals. Tell him/her that if they will just give you a chance, you won't let them down. Then, actually don't let your boss, or yourself, down, and complete your treatment and the lifestyle changes it might require. Meth can/will ruin your life, and the high will gradually get less and less satisfactory until all you have is a truly ugly addiction, no teeth, rotting skin. and no money. Good luck to you~quit now while you still own a computer! |

Well, did you actually take meth? It seems to me if you actually took meth, you should be disciplined in some way. Why would you take meth? It doesn't seem like a very bright idea especially now, does it? Maybe they will let you keep your job if you go into rehab or treatment? It's always possible, especially if you have been an otherwise exemplary employee. |

Nothing. This is sad, 11 years of steady employment down the drain. I've seen it before, it is sad to see, but not much can be done. |

Wow, that's a toughie. Coming from someone who has battled cocaine addiction, you've gotten yourself into something to which you really have no recourse. You can either be up-front with your employer about your drug use and pray that they have sympathy for you, or you can deal with the consequences of your actions and rectify the situation and go to rehab. I know it's easy for me to say, but maybe you can look at this whole situation as a blessing in disguise, or a "wake-up call," so to speak. Good luck to you. |

The real question is what can you do to keep your teeth? (The irony of an Englishman saying this is astounding!) |

was this prescribed ? did you take it under a doctor's authority ? US or elsewhere ? I would consult with an employment lawyer . You should not make any statements and get advise asap. Like in the AM. |

Go to rehab rapidly. Yes! Yes ! Yes! You need help whether you keep the job or not. However most jobs permit you the opportunity to seek help prior to firing them. |

hun, you were stupid to do meth in the first place.
and don 't say you're addicted to it, because if you really wanted to, you could quit.
you can't say anything to keep your job, hun. stop doing meth and get a new job. |

deny it and ask for another test. Lay off the meth.
In case you have no wish to deny it or you don't manage to stay off the meth till there is another test (and they may test you more often after this) then document as well as you can that your job has never and will never suffer and pledge to get help. There are always users who have a 'manageable' habit (if only for a while, don't kid yourself) and if your job is not influenced and nobody else is affected by this then you may be able to stay in your job whilst you get help. You do understand, whichever option you take, the meth has got to go. |

sometimes sobriety is quick like a whip
huh?
go to HR & acknowledge the results of the test as the result of
an incident beyond your control which you have control over now
if the results of your screening get to the super in your dept. before HR does seek employment elsewhere
or
apply for unemployment asap |

Nothing. I'm guessing you signed something way back that states that the employment is "at will." This means that you can be terminated at any time if you do something that justifies it, and testing positive for meth more that qualifies. I suppose you could say you'd never do it again and that you made a dumb mistake (typical response that nobody with half a brain believes) and see what happens. If your employer has any sort of sense, they will terminate you, because someone who slips up like this and does something stupid is not the type of employee they need around. |

If you are using drugs, there is nothing you can say or do except stop using them and clean up you life. |

Some places let you keep your job if you agree to go to rehab. Others just fire you no matter what because of your job. For instance, I don't believe truck drivers get that option. |

Tell them thanks - that you were wondering why you felt so messed up with just a couple drinks at the bar ... and you felt that way before - someone must be slipping it to you.
Then agree to NOT going back to that bar and that you would like to have them test you again at any time to help you prove your innocense ...
Thank then again for showing you what was going on cause you though you were going crazy ...
Peace;

They cannot fire you for using drugs. It would be the same as firing you if you were mentally challenged because it is a disease. Now what you want to do, is sign up for drug counseling and when they confront you about it, you tell them you have a problem, you are sorry and that you are now enrolled in drug counseling, make sure to have some paperwork to back it up with. P.s. The first couple weeks are the hardest but being sober is the only way to go, why waste your life in a haze? |
