You were not wrong, and the "owner" is a Moron.
I wish more people had the gumption you showed to help the weak when they can't themselves, whether it is an animal, or a child.
There are some REAL Idiots who leave babies in hot cars, as well, and the consequences have been hypothermia and death.
I am proud to call you an American, and Bless you! |

No this was the right thing to do. The dog could have died.
You did the right thing. |

yes ive seen that too many times. You did the right thing. You should be very proud of yourself for being such a good citizen. That is very much animal abuse and people need to stop that even if its unintentioal. When I left my dog in a car, I at least roll the window down half way if the dog is big enough where he can't get out. |

good thing it was you that found the dog instead of me. I would have busted the window out. I'm also a big time animal lover. I'd sooner run over BO than an anilmal |

Of course not.
Of course the owner's going to be angry with you, too - it's perfectly normal to dislike the idea of being reported to the police - but it sounds like he was in the wrong, and the dog needed the assistance.
Even if you were wrong that the dog needed help, you made the right call nonetheless. If you'd just gone ahead and broken the window yourself, or something like that, I might have some reservations about that sort of behaviour. But calling the police and letting them decide what further actions are appropriate...well, it's very rarely the wrong decision. |

You did a great job. The dog is alive because of you. Just think if it was a child instead. People should just leave their animals at home when they go out, especially when they have appointments. The guy is mad because he got caught. I hope the cops gave him a ticket for being stupid. PETA will love you. Good Job! |

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! i would have done the same thing good for you ! |

You did the right thing.. Some people should not have pets.. |

Nope - great move! I commend you my friend |

For the little doggie, let me say thank you. That is so sad. as the little fellow could not even ask for help. People need to stop and think real hard , if they love their pet. |

You saved the dogs life. the person should have been charged with felony animal abuse. thank you for thinking
of the little dog. |

you did the right thing. The owner should have been charged for it, period. |

You were exactly right. If it had been my call, I would have taken steps to file a cruelty case against the owner and have the dog impounded.
That's nearly as bad as leaving a child in a car. |

No. You were right. Rest easy. You did "The Right Thing." |

Hope you were in Houston, we might get to see that on Animal Planet. You did exactly what you should have done, if the owner gives you any more BS contact your ASPCA, I'm surprised they didn't respond and pick the dog up. Animal Cruelty is against the law in Texas, punishable by a fine and often jail time. They may still be investigating it or may have filed charges and you don't know it. |

No, it was not wrong of you to do that. First you are in the business of grooming dogs, and seeing the dog, in a hot car, and left unattended, it was certainly okay for you to do that.
I have seen two adult dogs left in a hot car. One dog died and the other one went mad because of dehydration and was biting the owner and police officers. And was shot at the scene. It was tragic and everyone was upset about it and the owner felt really bad, but it was too late, no one bothered to report it.
I'm proud of you, you did the right thing, and the dogs are very thankful. |

You did the right thing. I hope that nitwit is fined for animal cruelty. |

You were absolutely right. Maybe the dog owner will think before doing that again. Any moron knows it is unsafe to leave a dog in a hot car. |

No. You did the right thing. |

you did the right thing....
of course the owner was angry....he/she is obviously self-centered and only cares about himself/herself...
I hope the owner was cited so that if it happens again the dog can be taken away and given to a caring owner... |

No dogs should be treated with respect, they love us, we need to show respect, and love them back, Would the owner have left a family member in the car!!! 10 lashes with a wet noodle, for being just plain stupid!!!!!!!!!! |

I would have done the same thing. Poor dog! It was the right thing to do. |

you were right....maybe just maybe this will serve notice on this person that other people don't agree with their style of taking care of animals
doubt it though, sorry some people are just born, live and die @$$holes |

Not at all. You probably saved the poor animals life. I have a friend who once broke the window out of a car with his skateboard when he noticed a dog in distress. |

Would you feel badly if it were a child in a carseat? |

You didn't say how far the window was cracked open, or how hot it really was, but even if it was only in the 80's, being in a closed vehicle would increase the temperature measurably. I'm supposing the temperature was higher than that on a normal Texas day. Why people drive around with their pets with them is also beyond me. The only reason I can see to transport an animal is to the vet or to visit someone or such. Not just to go shopping or riding around. No animal should be left unattended in a car. In my opinion, that borders on animal cruelty. You did the right thing. |

No it was not wrong for you to call the police you were looking out for the dog and its health. I think the owner was mad because he had the police called on them about leaving it in there. IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR YOU TO CALL THE POLICE AND SAVE THE DOG AND HAVE THE OWNER BE MAD THEN TO NOT CALL THE POLICE AND HAVE THE DOG END UP DIEING. Therefore you did the right thing. |
|

You did the right thing. I don't know what teh law says, but I would feel justified in throwing a brick through one of the car windows to save the dog. |

No you were right.
TX is waaay behind the times if this is not a crime. It is in "civilized" states, and the dog would be taken away immediately.
Sadly dogs, and children, die every year this way.
If the outside temp goes up much over 70, we all know how hot it gets inside, and cracking a window helps not at all.
Anyone disagrees with me, next time it is 85 or more where you live, go park in the sun, crack the windows and sit in your car for an hour or more and see how it feels. |
