I caught my son smoking Marijuana, What should I do?
Find answers to your legal question.

I caught my son smoking Marijuana, What should I do?

He's 27, he hasn't moved out yet, and he smokes pot in my house.

Nashville Guy
Make him either share, or go outside to smoke.

Lillian
Kick him out of the house. If he can afford pot with today's prices his butt can be on his own.

Twenty-seven YEARS old?? You are enabling him to be a free-loader. Reality therapy says to show him the door and let him pay his own rent/groceries/gas/insurance/etc., etc. He would not have the time nor the energy, nor the money to smoke marijuana.

armychick_2001
I would give him a lift to the nearest homeless shelter. He has money for pot, but not for his own rent!

He is risking all you have for the sake of his own pleasure, and you are letting him.

He could get busted at your house and your house, car, etc., could be seized. You probably would get it back, but it could take literally years. And that's after YOU get out of jail and your attorney is fully paid!

If he's worth it, good luck to you.

Frog
Kick his stupid a$$ out.

Law
He's 27 so he's old enough to make his own decision. The best way to counter this is to allow him to be independent. But if he's living with you. Set some rules for your house. No smoking in the house.. buy your own food. help pay for your room.

He's kinda old to be smooching off of you. Help the kid grow up and get a life of his own. Be positive but make sure he follow your rules. He'll get the idea. Telling him it's bad isn't gonna do any good, he'll just rebel.

Good luck with your son. Just remember he's a grown man now.

I'll give you two answers.

The conservative answer.
Kick his lazy butt out.

The liberal answer.
He has a drug addiction and should be in a rehab program.

Kick him out. With the drug laws currently on the books YOUR house is at risk of being confiscated by the DEA. If it happens YOU have no recourse but to sit and cry. At 27 your "child" needs to become a man and stop doing childish things.

If he can afford pot, he can afford his OWN place!

J
Well he has been allowed to feel comfortable enough this long, I would tell him to "pass that $h1t."

You have let the problem manifest for 9 years...time to put your foot down mom.

Good Luck

It's a bit sad to have your 27 year old son still living in your house, you really need to move him on and out. If he doesn't have a job, make sure he gets one.

As for smoking pot, I was a regular user until a few months ago when I quit. I'd suggest telling him that it's not happening in your home, period. If he wants to do it wherever, theres not much you can do about it unfortunately. And at the age of 27 he should already know the negative health effects so theres no point discussing it with him.

I know it's hard, but he is 27 years old, and needs to move into the real world. You need to let him go and stop babying him.

holocene epoch
Have him go on an errand. ( not using your car of course ) While he is out call the police and have them search his stuff and the house for drugs. When he arrives home have him arrested.

KayKay
you've left out so much here
does he contribute to the house hold? Groceries rent etc?
Is he a hell raiser? If his pot smoking is causing problems for you then address it at once! If he is using to stop drinking etc find some place for addictions and get him going there
a 27 yr old living with mom and dad is an issue itself unless he has become divorced or other problems. If you've never kicked the baby out then it's time for you to let go of the apron strings and boot him out...the pot problem will go away once he is on his own he will find out that rent groceries and utilities will take all his money and leave none for pot

Does he smoke it a lot? Do you have other children in the house? What does your wife think about it? Does he pay rent? Does the smoke bother either you or your wife?
You should point out to him how illegal it is and please find out seriously how in your state, after all he is your son. did you ever do anything notorious? If after talking it over with him he still wishes to smoke tell him not in the house around his mother. Tell him he has a time limit to stop if you are serious and then tell him he will have to leave!
You could smoke once with him just before he throws it in the toilette. Good luck

Unfortunately what you may have on your hands is a LOSER.
He needs a wake-up call and you are enabling his lifestyle. I'm sure there is lots of baggage with him, but he needs to take it and haul it out into the world. Make sure you lock the doors.

As a mother, it is sometimes difficult to see the actions that are necessary. He has learned to be a freeloader. He has also learned that you will give him everything because you love him so he does not need to respect or honour you. He is comfortable and will not change unless you teach him that change is not only necessary but the best thing that could happen to him.

If you want him to continue living in your home, renovate so that he is living in his own suite. Make sure it has a separate entrance. Act like a landlord and demand first and last months rent as well as a security deposit. Charge a comparable rent by phoning around and asking about rental rates. This is what he will pay regardless of where he tries to secure accommodation. Phoning the police will probably be useless unless he is selling the prohibited substance so you will not have any control over whether he smokes. If you own a non-smoking house, make non-smoking part of the rental agreement that he will sign.

If you do not want him living in your house, it will be best to speak to the police about watching your home and advising you on what needs to be done to make it harder to break in. Make sure that the house is secure and then, if necessary, help him to locate rental accommodation. As it is May 1, there should be vacancy signs out today. Find one that matches his income, than remove anything he actually owns from your home and deliver, or have it delivered at his expense, to his new accommodation.

You know that you should have done this at least 7 years ago. Do it today! He needs to grow up and become an adult rather than an overgrown child. You will not be here forever to take care of him. You deserve a better life than the one you are living as his doormat!

Kick the dude outta YOUR house first! If he's smoking pot and no telling what else in your house, then u r as guilty as he is. What's he still doing at home, no matter what his age is, and did u not know you are actually reporting yourself on here as well as him? I myself would call the cops and out he's go-more like to the jail he'd go. AN D< let him stay there. Don't bother to visit, send money, etc. although you might wanna send a minister. Then, tell the cops you didn't know you were also breaking the law as well as him--make sure to tell them or he will and will get you in trouble along with himself.

Make him watch while you flush it down the toilet, then make it clear that he can either agree to never bring drugs into your house again, or move out immediately. He's not the only one breaking the law...if they're in your house, you're responsible.

At 27, it's about time he got out and got a life anyway.
