I don't know if this was stealing or not?

When I was in 4th grade, I went to a pharmacy store with my mom(like a rite aid, CVS, walgreens, etc.) This is what I remember:
Seeing a mini lip gloss tube on a shelf NOT in the makeup section. It looked like it was too small to be sold separately. It also did not have a price tag on it. I stole it. I remember putting it in my pocket. The alarms in front of the store didn't go off when we left.
Now I am 18, and I was just thinking about this today. From the info I provided, do you think it was the stores lip gloss? Or do you think it could have been someone else's?(Like they left it there or something).
I am paranoid because I always try to do right, and I'm scared that God will punish me now for what I did.
Additional Details
I also remember that there was a bar code on the lip gloss, but I didn't take it off because I covered it with my thumb.

It would seem to me that the lip gloss may have been sold in a package of several, and someone may have opened it already.

I think that in the eyes of the law, it was stealing, but I don't think you were old enough in the 4th grade to fully understand what you were doing. I don't think you need to feel bad about it now. We all have stories like that. As long as you know wouldn't do it today, there's nothing wrong.

if you took it and it was not yoursa you stole it from someone, from the store or someone else. you were young and im sure god has forgiven you. dont worry about it. aint nothing you can do about it now

it wasn't yours so yes it is stealing, hopefully your god is willing to forgive a 9 year old. but more importantly why would you worship someone your scared of?

You took something that was not yours. Did not matter if it was the store's or not. You sound like you have a good conscience (which is probably why this is bothering you). There's nothing you can do to right it now so just ask forgiveness from God and know that you are a better person for knowing that you'll never again take anything that is not yours.

Yes, taking something that didn't belong to you was stealing. Dunno how you can be confused about this; it's the definition of stealing.
