Do the right thing and turn it over to the police. After 30 days or so , if it is not claimed, the money can be claimed by you The time period varies from state to state so when you give it to the police they will explain the law to you I understand you having a hard time in paying your bills, but perhaps the one that lost that money needs it more than you do. I would take it to the police station. I will not sacrifice my principle for 600 dollars. If I do, I will regret it for rest of my life. (which is worth far more than 600 dollars to me) Besides, that 600 dollars maybe someones rent or food money.

since it has been there so long i would keep it but you could make a police report and get lucky because no one could really claim it with no id.. |

well I would keep it only because there was no I.D. and if it was that important someone would have come back looking for it it sounds a bit suspicious so maybe bring it to the police if u feel like it |

If you don't keep it for yourself and give it to the police, you may be in the middle of a quarrel between two, three, a bunch of claimers. The police has its interview techniques to figure out who is the rightful owner or finding by means of a Salomon's judgement that none of them is . Stay away from those rocks for some months. I heard though that the police can keep it for its own purposes if no rightful owner is found after about 2 months. |

I would take it, normally you should take it to the police and usually they will keep it for a certain period of time then if no one claims it they might give it back to you. But, this sounds like drug money, so you should take it and spend it on something other than drugs. |

Well if you turn it in you may get a $50 reward or something, which of course is nothing compared to $600. It is an interesting thing to think about about, I think I'd probably keep it, and suggest that you leave a note saying "A large amount of money was found here, if it is yours please call this number: (give your phone number)." If someone calls to claim it, ask them how mcuh was there and some other question(s) about location, how it was folded, etc. that would indicate it really was their money. Take the note back after 30 or so days. You can then use it to pay your rent now, just be prepared to give back that amount of money within some time period if it is indeed claimed. |

Keep it. If you turn it in to the cops someone has to identify it in 30 days. I'm sure it'll just be claimed by someone. |

You really should make a police report and the sooner the better. You first need to make sure it is real money... as you do not want to be passing counterfit money. You don't know if someone did see you take it for sure. You don't know for sure the money was not stolen to begin with.
The police will hold it for a period of time and if no one claims it, it becomes yours. |
