I got arrested for marijuana possession, I need advice.?

I was arrested yesterday for marijuana possession. I was smokin a little bud with some friends, then we all went out for a cigarette afterwards, then the police show up, I got arrested because of a "concerned neighbor - aka this mean old lady across the street". However, I was wondering what some possible good legal advice would be because I noticed a couple of things that were slightly, crooked, about this pig.. er uh i mean "police officer". When my dad came to pick me up at the police station, the police officer told me that they scaled 4 grams on me, I KNOW there was NOT 4 grams there, I told my friends I wanted to save enough for one bowl for the morning, that is nowhere near 4 grams. The second thing I remembered today when I woke up was, when I got arrested yesterday, the police never read me my miranda rights! So, basically, any good legal advice would be appreciated and any information about what's going to happen to me, oh and as a side note I am 17 years old and was arrested and live in indiana.

the sad thing is that if they want to get you for 1 gram of pot, they can. If you were older, they probably would have let it slide, but since you are a kid, they are trying to teach you a lesson, so they will not take it easy on you. And you will not be able to do anything about the miranda rights situation. Your best bet is to hire your own defense attorney if can, and try to get them to dismiss the case, but you will probably end up with probation. You'll be forced to stay clean for a couple years. It's probably a good thing anyway, because when you grow up, you have to get a good job, and unless you've gone to college to be a doctor or lawyer, you're gonna have to take drug tests to make good money. The state is trying to help you out. They don't realize that pot isn't as bad as meth and other hard drugs, so they are trying to keep you from ruining your life. Don't worry, pot will be legal soon.

Look. I used to smoke pot, in fact, if someone offered it to me, I probably would still take a hit or two, but if you get caught, it doesn't matter that he didn't read you your rights, the fact is you were caught with weed, and when you go in front of a judge and tell him that you weren't read your rights, that will not get the case thrown out, you will be lucky if you just have to pay the court fees, if you have a lawyer, pay him, and have some community service, you CAN and MIGHT have to go to jail. I recommend sticking to cigarettes from now on. the fact that you are 17 may or may not help. you might be considered a minor and go to juve, or you may be tried as an adult. but seriously dude, is weed really worth getting arrested for, I smoked every day for 10 years, it is nothing special, the high you get from weed can be compared to running around in a circle really fast for about 30 seconds. I recommend worrying about your future, try to get into college, and make this a learning experience.

I wouldn't refer police as pigs, that will get you in trouble. Makes you look bad. Disrespectful.

Are you sure you had less than 4 grams? Do you have evidence? Because the police do. They will just say you were too high to notice. You may get your friend to testify... but you need proof.

Not much you can do. Be honest, be courteous. Call a real lawyer if need be.

But you really should have thought about this before you smoked illegal drugs... really, come on!
You will spend a couple months in jail, a big fine, or maybe get a warning if you are very lucky.

The Miranda thing...it doesn't matter, you were caught red-handed so there was no reason to interrogate you. You've been watching too much t.v. if you think they have to Mirandize everybody they arrest...they don't.

F**k me that sounds well sh*t! If that was here in UK they would just take it off you and give you a verbal warning, that is if they hadn't told the old bag across the road that she was wasting police time. A couple of months in jail? For four grams? Uuunnnlluucckkyyy!

Good luck kid, you should be alright since this is your first offense. Just remember, you are a minor, they can do whatever they want with you.There are no Miranda rights for minors, for starters.
