Their allowed to fire you without notice if you're on probation, that's usually three months from the day you were hired or the day you started working. |

Yeah typically you dont get a notice when you get fired. |
|

I'm weird, ugly, and cute!

you do not have to have notice. usually the handbook they give you when hired says that right in it |

Most states are at-will states. Meaning, you can be terminated for no reason at all and not be given any notice.
Since you did not provide what you did or was accused of doing and the state you live in, no one can really give you an HONEST answer! |

Well what did you do to get fired. If you did something really bad they don't have to give you notice. |

It depends on the state that you live in. In Michigan, you can fire someone for no reason and it is totally legal...but that is not the case in all states. Yes, it also depends on what you did...if you signed a contract when you started working there and you broke that contract then they can fire you. |

you said you got fired without notice but really who gets a notice before getting fired you must have done something bad you probably had it coming. |

You had to have done "something", what did you do? also if you worked for more than three months you can go collect unemployment until you find a new job and on account of your spelling THAT may take some time. |

Different states have different laws. In what state do you live? |

maybe they found another employee
or maybe they're were complains about you
or maybe someone in there didn't like you and told the manager to fire you
[whispering]
PS: use check spelling after you have finished typing your question or answer ;] |

You did get notice when you received a 3 day suspension. Companies don't suspend good employees. I'm sure you've been also written up a couple of times. |

Are you in a right to work state? Do you work for a company that has a policy on firings? Have you spoken to Human Resources? If you feel you have been discriminated against, go to www.eeoc.gov Good luck! |

They don't need a reason to fire you. Maybe the boss didn't like you, or they weren't happy with your work. It could have been coming and you just didn't see it or you were living in denial. The boss can invent reasons to get rid of you. The best thing to do is file for unemployment and move on to another job. |

Yesenia:
Depending on what state you live in (in the US), and whether or not you were on probation (first 90 days), the employer has the right to terminate you without notice OR cause based on the "At-Will" laws. At-will rules cannot be used where you work in a union trade and are a member of a union, or if you work for a government agency (City, County or State).
The suspension thing is a little strange, given the fact that they terminated you after waiting 3 days. Did they perform some type of investigation during that time that determined your termination?
You have a right to a complete copy of your personnel file. Request it from your employer in writing by Certified Mail, asking that they send it to you within 10 days. Keep the return receipt confirmation, as proof that they received it. If they don't provide it, you can file a claim with your state's labor board for their failure to provide it. There are fines imposed on employers by their state for withholding this information from you after you've requested it. There may also be something in your file that you didn't know about, that might answer your questions about why you were fired, if they didn't tell you.
If you aren't satisfied with the explanation they gave for your termination, you can file a complaint with the Labor Board in your state if you feel that you were terminated unfairly.
Good luck. |

You don't get 'Notice'. That would give you the opportunity to retaliate. Termination is usually done instantly or on return from a suspension. This isn't France.
EDIT: Dr Dave is an idiot. 30 days of pay to get fired? Everyone who wants to change jobs would make sure they were fired first. |

Notice??? to get fired??normally the only notice you'd get is when your supervisor says "your fired!!!" ..sounds pretty normal to me, you were suspended, for 3 days, which we would class as UFN,tho it turned out to be 3 days in your case and then they terminated you...we do that all the time here, the suspension is to let management decide what to do with you...sometimes that decision is to send you your final check. |

If you live in a employment at will or sometimes called right to work state it is perfectly legally provided they have not violated an employment law regarding firing of an employee. |

there are a few factors missing, does the company have a written policy on a three strike and out, are u a union member and were u given any written warnings prior to this? if u can answer yes to questions #1 or #2 then u should contact your union!!! |

That's generally how companies fire people. |
