welcome to america we pay for the privilege to live here, and grow up most people pay allot more than that in taxes like 25% plus annually and when you factor inn sales tax,gas tax, property tax, phone tax, cable tax, electricity tax, auto tax, wheel tax, etc... etc... etc,it gets up to like fifty percent or more of your hard earned monies go to taxes, that pay for out military and roads and cops and firemen and politicians,stc...etc...etc... oh yea dont forget all the social programs you fund welfare, for citizens or non citizens, the national endowment for the arts, state hospitals ...etc...etc...etc... its not free to live here |

thats life, you want things like police protecting you and roads to drive on then you pay taxes
and you can get somewhat of a refund at the beginning of the year, you know when you return your taxes before April... |

that is a great deal, most people lose 15-20% just wait until you get overtime ;)
you'll probally get most of your federal taxes back, and you'll get SS when your 70, and you might need medicare sometime or even disibillity. |

Welcome to the adult world young fella. We all pay that. I would bet that if you were a math major you would see that 15%-20% of your hard earned money went to taxes of a variety of agencies.
And when Barak "Spread the Weath" Obamam takes over you will be working even harder for non-workers. In Finland and Sweden they pay 65-80% of their income to taxes. 4 years of socialism, hurrah! |

Welcome to life. It gets worse from here on. Since social security has already been stolen and spent by all the politicians you may not get a dime back at all. You might get a small pittance of your income tax back sfter you file. Wait til Obama and the Democrats get done with things. You will be lucky to have anything left. |

Your upset with 8.5 %. When your through with college and begin making decent money, big brother will take upwards of 40%. Check the facts through google, you'll see that the rich paid around 90% for several years. |

You will never see the amount that disappeared under "FICA" again. That is your social security/ medicare tax that is supposed to care for you in your old age -- but the reality is that it won't be there when you get old enough to collect.
Anything taken out under state and federal withholding you should get back when you file your taxes in the spring.
Welcome to work of the working class poor. You're in the same boat with the rest of us. |

Welcome to the world of taxes and government and wages and the IRS.It is tough to see it taken out but each year you can file tax and get some of it back. But we do need to run things in our government so they take them out and not one thing we can do about it. |

Welcome to the wonderful world of American business. You may as well relax. As long as you have a legal job, you will pay taxes. Hope you didn't vote for Obama, because then you will have no-one to blame as that rate climbs ever higher. |

8.5% is not a lot. 35% of my first paycheck got taken for all that stupid tax and whatever.
i don't know where you're from and what your state/country's policy is, but usually at the end of the financial year, you will receive notification that you can get a tax rebate. it won't give you back all the money though. and there is a fee |
