Of course you do, its going to come up when they do the CRB check anyway. |

yes, cos it will defintiely show up on the check and if you lie you will look very bad.
The fact you have a record does NOT mean you can't work as a carer. It all depends on what the offence was and how long you've been out of bother for since. |

Yeah I'm afraid you do mate. If you hide it and its found out later down the line could be embarrassing and serious for you. However dont worry too much, the police do take into consideration how long ago it was and what the crime was for. The final choice is down to the company or person you want to be a carer for, even if the police check states you have server a prison sentence they may still wish to employ you if the sentence was irrelivent to the job you'll be taking or was a considerable time ago. Good luck anyway! |

YES is the answer in short...you must declare EVERYTHING! |

Yes you do. Most places will do a CORI check and it will show up, but that does not mean that you will not get the job. They will give you a chance to explain why you were in prison. |

Yes you do. All convictions weather spent or not remain on your record. |

it would be best if you do, that way they cannot find out another way and sack you for with holding information. I do think that you are unable to do care work if you have a criminal record, but i may be wrong on that one. i think it depends on the offence too. |

Where's the Kaboom??

For a job as a carer, you will have to have an 'enhanced disclosure' carried out. This is basically a background check and any criminal convictions/sentences served will be shown on it. It will depend entirely on what you were convicted of as to whether you can have a job as a carer.
The organisation you have/will apply to will have a policy as to what convictions (spent or otherwise) can be deemed as 'acceptable' and still offer employment.
I can appreciate this may be frustrating as you served your sentence a long time ago. However, those being cared for are often vulnerable people and must have this protection in place.
Good luck whatever happens. |

If they ask and you leave it out, you lied on your job application. If they find out they can fire you on the spot and you do not get unemployment benefits. |

Not necessarily as it would be spent by now
If on your application form if it asks for a list of any unspent convictions then no you don't have to |

You don't say what it was for, but yes, for a job as carer it must be declared. It will certainly be revealed in a police check. You are right in saying that it is spent, but a job as carer falls outside the general rules.

it depends on what crime you commited, whether you commited a crime or not most people these day's have to have a police check on them.especially if your working with people or the community, just go to your local jobcentre they should be able to tell you. |

Sorr i don't actually know, but what is with the smart replys from those people,,, Best of luck hope you get where you want to be |

It depends on what crime you committed.
If you don’t say anything I doubt that they will check, but if they do you will get the sack.
If the crime is relatively minor I would come clean. |

Yes, they do a enhanced crb check to filter out people with criminal records e.g you. |

Doesn't matter how long ago it was, you have a record now and it will be with you for the rest of your life. THAT'S THE POINT OF A CRIMINAL RECORD!
You should have thought about how this kind of thing would haunt you for the rest of your life before breaking the law. Deal with it.
BTW ... where did you get this idea of a "spent" conviction? It blows my mind that people think there are no consequences for their actions. This is one of them. |

If you need to ask this question I don't think you have the IQ to be a good carer. |

Why were you stupid enough to land yourslef in jail anyway?
Almost impossible for you to get a job now pal, law enforcement officers will check that even if the company your applying to doesn't ask for it, they are required to execute and report their search to the company you are applying to. |
