can I send the payment for the amount listed on my credit report to the collection agency. I've tried coming to a settlement agreement with the law firm that claims to be representing the collection agency but each time I come up with the amount they had previously given it changes to a larger amount. Now they tell me they only take settlements, I cannot make payments. I notice the original collection agency that filed the judgement is listed on my credit report with the judgement amount. Could I just pay that amount listed on my report the the collection agency.
Additional Details
As it stands there are no liens against me and the law firm claims to represent a Collection Agency not the original creditor. I've tried countless of times to reach a settlement and I offer to send in payments but they said they don't have to send me any information. So I asked who should I send the payment to and their reply was that I would have to pay it in full. It is more than the original judgement.

Not if you want the lien released. Call the holder, get a letter with a final amount due with all penalty and interest, and a date it is good thru; and pay that. |
