I have a sisater whos in prison...shes innocent. How do I get her story on the news. So everyone could here he

She didnt have a lawyer. They didnt even give her a lie detector test or investigate on other people who were at the incident at the time. If you can help my sister please post a message.
Additional Details
I believe she is innocent...she is a very sweet person. She was accused of killing her own3 month old daughter. Even her friends and fam belive she didnt do it. At the tim of the incident...there was a girl and another guy in the apartment were it happened. The guy was a friend of my sisters and the girl was a crazy...mental crazy ex girlfriend of the guy. They should of arrested them also. But they only arrested my sis.

In county court, you can represent yourself.

In felony court, you are going to have a public defender.

Lie detector tests are not admissable in court as evidence.

She plead guilty because she was guilty, she just doesn't want you, her family, thinking she's a bad person, so she's lying to you.

Not only that, she's setting you up with sympathy for her, and an easy place to crash when she gets out.

Bolt down your belongings.

Call or email the news station. Good luck!!! What was she convicted on?

Start by writing to local newspapers. If the evidence is compelling, the story will have a good chance of getting picked-up and gaining momentum and publicity.

Do you have a local newspaper? if so give them a call.

At this point she really, really needs a lawyer to file an appeal and ask for a new trial. Try calling your local courthouse and ask for a list of attorneys that take Pro Bono cases. (Meaning, they don't charge - all attorneys must take a small handful of free cases a year. It's late in the year and it could be that they have already met their commitment.) Another place is Lawyer Referral. They can give you the same information and they can tell you what lawyers will charge on a lesser scale depending on your/her finances. Also, try writing to the Editor of your local paper and ask if anyone can help her. Turn every stone over until you get someones attention to this sad situation. This advice is all the help I can give you.

call your local station and see if they would be welling to run a story,go to the news paper.if she did not have a lawyer, one of two things happen (A) she gave up her right to one (B) she just fall through the cracks.next, you need to realize that the police do not have to give her a lie detector test,in most states they are not allowed to be used in court anyway, lastly, talk to some of the people who were at the incident and get a idea of what really happen, you may need to hire a lawyer or some other form of help.good luck

How do you know she is really innocent? If she really is, she needs to appeal. Contact a lawyer. It would help if we knew more about the crime. Did she have prior arrests?

A person has a multitude of legal rights unless a person waives them. It sounds like she waived her rights to counsel (attorney) and her right to a trial. If so, you need a lawyer to start the appeal process. It's lengthy and will consume money and time.

Consult the Public Defenders Office and ask for a list of Attorneys that take Pro Bono (for free) cases. Lawyers are required to take some many cases a year in their jurisdiction. Go to the Court of conviction and see if there is a transcript of the case. In smaller felony cases, there is not a court reporter. Get the police reports, the probation departments recommendations to the court and any other documents that may be relevant to you sister' case.

When you find an attorney that will take the case pro bono, it's more likely they will take the case if you show up with documents that they could review. Good Luck.

Did you ever see the movie "shaw shank redemption" in it Morgan Freeman says "Don't you know everyone in here is innocent"? That is the feeling that most people have about people in prison. I assume she is in the United States. Not having a lawyer is something she would have had to sign a waver for her convection to be legal. A lie detector is not a right given her the police decide who to give it to. There are a lot of problems either with your sister, her case or the way you conveyed it. She should get a lawyer if she truly didn't have one and have him start a appeal.

from what i've gathered watching countless police dramas, if someone is arrested they are legally entitled to a lawyer. If they cannot hire one, a court lawyer is appointed to them. Also, Lie detectors or Polygraph test are in fact inadmissable as evidence in a court of law, so taking one would not help.

There is something else behind this story that we, or possibly you don't even know. If your sister has been put in prison without proper legal representation, you can go to the district attorney for help.

In most cases, people do not get put into prison without legal representation, so there has to be something else going on.

If your sister is telling you that she is innocent, because she is embarrassed and doesn't want to admit to her family that she was involved in something illegal, that is why there is such a difference here.

If she admitted her guilt in the incident to the police, that is considered to be an admission or confession of guilt. If she was wrongfully imprisoned, you need to be getting the law involved on the state and even federal level and going to the media.

I wish you and your sister the best.

She had the right to a lawyer and it seems a jury of 12 found her guilty. Lie detector evidence is not admisible in court.

Maybe you could fax a press release to some newspaper. Call them and ask them how to do it.

Also, you could get a free consultation with a lawyer.

You could also, right to your governor and make a petition for her to be pardoned.

In the USA, a person can not be sentenced to prison without haven't an atty.

If you live in the USA contact the appellate division of the public defenders office.

Not to be rude, but is she young and black?
Typically, with all the stereotypes it is easy to charge and convict individuals that fall within this category. I'd contact the local D.A's office and start looking for your answers there.

probably because she is black, white woman really did the crime
