If that is really all there was to it then your civil rights have been violated. And it needs to be addressed in a court of law if necessary. I,you or anybody else in the U.S.A. have the right to pray, when and where we please. And I would challenge anyone to show me in the Bible where it says to pray in private. Because, It does'nt. Contrary to what phoenixHE says. And while I'm at it, just let me say this, If you don't like it because some one is praying. Get over it. That is what this country was founded on. Remember? Oh, that's right ,excuse me, certain ones on here did'nt pay attention in school.Or church or anything else that is good. Those are the ones who were to busy learning how to fire up a crack pipe. And were to busy to learn how to live an honest, productive life. Keep praying, and stand up for what you believe in. That's what's wrong with this country today, we've allowed our morals to decay so bad. That good is evil and evil is good. |

You might want to go talk to a lawyer because I don't think that it's legal to fire you for that, especially seen that it was your day off.
I could understand it if you were on shift, but you weren't. |

Why do I suspect we are not getting the whole story here...Taco Bell is a national chain and not about to just fire someone for no reason.................. |

I take it you worked at Taco Bell. If what you said is true, you have a lawsuit. A serious lawsuit.
But I have to ask ... why do you go to your workplace on your day off? |

thats just crazy! what is this world coming to? they say freedom of speach but then they want to tell you what to say and when to say it, im very sorry that this happened to you , god bless you ! he will take care of you, and the ones who fired you will have to answer to him ! |

Well if you're a Christian, the bible says to do your praying in private. Don't flaunt your religion. |

If you were doing it on your own time (like during a break or before or after work) they can not fire you. See a lawyer who specializes in civil rights discrimination if you wish to pursue it. |

Which Side of Taco Bell? Front?
Is the pray a reason to be fired? If not, find another Taco Bell. If it is, find a lawyer. |

If I was going to eat at Taco Bell I would most certainly be on my knees praying first too. |

I think that if you were in front of a door and blocking it they had a right to fire you. If you were loud , if it was against your contract or their rules they could also do so, or if you or someone else had been warned before otherwise I don't think they had a right, by the way I am an atheist. |

You don't give a lot of information, like were you working for that Taco Bell or for some other company, so let's take this at face value.
If you were fired from TAco Bell for praying before you went in, Yes, sorry, you're in violation of the freedom of religion act. You see, you were bringing your religion in to the workplace. Your workplace is not just the back kitchen, but encompasses the entire groundso f the Taco Bell.
Now, if you were fired from another company for praying in the Taco Bell parking lot, then I'd say you have a legal battle ahead of you and I'd contact the civil liberties union. |

So you went on your day off for the free food and you just HAD to do your praying out front in front of God and everybody? I would have fired you too, but not so you would know it was for that reason.
Why can't you just say a little jingle at the table in private while you unwrap your taco like normal praying folks? |

well let's see! what do they pay you to do? Make tacos or go outside and pray? Hummmm! I would say you probably should be making tacos! |

You're not a very good Christian if that's what you were doing. You need to study your scriptures a lot better. Specifically Matthew chapter 6. You have more problems than getting fired.
As for the issue of being fired. You cannot be fired for what religion you practice, and employers must make "reasonable" accomodations for your religion, such as the highly restrictive aspects of the Muslim religion for prayer and the vestments on women, etc. But you can't tell me that any of the Christian religions REQUIRE you to pray visibly in public. In fact, in the scripture mentioned, you are NOT supposed to pray in public. That is for your own glory and not to honor your god. Additionally, you were on the company premises in your off hours, which is usually frowned upon.
Given this basic information, you were an employee who made a public spectacle of alleged religion on company property that is obviously not in keeping with the requirement of your religion, and so not expected to be tolerated or accomodated by an employer. You demonstrated that you are unstable and caused them concern for your ability to do your job and represent the company. They were within their rights to terminate your employment.
You said you were waiting for your food. Any Christian I know, even fundamentalists, wait until they receive their food and are about to eat, at which time they silently and unobtrusively close their eyes and give thanks--some raising a hand muttering quietly. Not only acceptable, but proper and in keeping with the teachings of Christ.
Finally, if you were such a fundamental Christian, you would definitely NOT be purchasing anything on a Sunday or causing anyone to work on Sunday! It's a commandment, for heaven's sake. "Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy." By going to Taco Bell you are forcing others to work on Sunday--God's day. You are really screwed up and know NOTHING about being a good Christian. Period. End of story. You need therapy. |

sounds like you got what you deserved. The patrons of Taco Bell don't want to be grossed out with your 'so called' praying. Next time, keep your pants on and you'll have better luck. |

You should pray on your own time |
|

?
|
What you do on your days off is up to you and not your employers. I also feel that there's more to this than your praying and practicing your religion at work. They probably have other reasons too, but if you got it in writing that they fired you due to this instance, then you do have a lawsuit on your hands. A company can not fire you because of your religious preferences. |

You were on a public sidewalk, government property, paid for by taxpayers.
You should be in jail.
Taco Bell had no right to fire you and should be charged with obstructing goverments rights.
Hereafter, pray in your closet.
If you are Muslim, get an attorney. Your rights have been violated. |

You get paid to work, not pray. Unless it was during your unpaid lunch break or any other break. |
