I left work without giving notice must my employer pay wages due to me?

Your former employer must pay you for all hours you worked, and are still due payment for.

Should you have been paid monthly, then sometimes you are paid two weeks behind and two in front, so if you left on the third week say, you would owe them one weeks pay, as you would have been paid for four, and you only worked three.

Sorry to sound complicated, but my friend has just done the same as you, and had to give back wages she had received but not worked.

Hope this helps.

PS. it may be strait forward, but if you had to leave work due to bad conditions or hassle or threats from former workers or management, you could have a case for constructive dismissal. The Citizens advice bureau would advise you on this. Good luck

You should get paid for what you worked. BUT, don't forget that if you caused the employer any loss of revenue / production by leaving so irresponsibly he could, in theory, sue you for damages by not working out your contracted notice.

really?

YES! you worked the hours and regardless they have to pay you unless you have a signed contrct stating otherwise...if they don't thats called stealing, ha ha seriously walking out is bogus

Your employer must pay you for the hours that you actually worked, regardless of how or why you left.

if you worked for your wages your employer owes those wages to you.

Over and Over
It depends on the company policy. When you started with the company you should have had to sign tons of paperwork, agreeing to the company policy, and tons of others.
There are companies that require you to give a notice before quitting or they will keep your final wages, and there are also companies that will only pay minimum wage for the last week worked if you did not give proper notice. And there are companies that will still pay you the money they owe you.
If possible you need to find the company policy that you were given when you started this job, and see what it states about quitting your job.

The Dark Side
Possibly not, as you are in breach of contract.

If you left your employer in the lurch by leaving without notice he is quite entitled to employ a temp until a replacement is found and present you with the bill!

You need to serve a notice period of either 3 months or 1 month or 15 days or as mentioned to you in your appointment / offer letter.

Please read the letter of appointment carefully.

TaxPayer
It all depends on your contract of employment.
Normally you have to give 30 days notice but that may not be the case dependent on the type of work and your contract.
My wife has to give 90 days notice or pay the recruitment cost of her replacement. She also gets paid a month in hand so they withhold a months wages from her all the time just in case she decides to do what you did.

Check your contract.

Raven
Your employer must pay you for the hours you actually worked.

In MOST places, you must be paid for those hours on the regular payday for which you would have received a check for those hours, if you had not quit (not necessarily the next payday, it depends on how your payroll periods run).

In SOME places, you must be paid on the next payday, regardless of whether or not the last hours you worked were due to be paid on that date or not.

In A FEW places, you must be paid for those hours within a set time after you quit, regardless of when the next payday is.

Only a search of your local laws will determine WHEN you must be paid, but you ARE entitled to be paid for your hours worked.

he better, or you can take him to court and get even more=

Don't think so.
How do they even know you left?

You walked out, so that defines your last working day, next time give a weeks or month's notice, this time you goofed.
