I met an ugly guy,but when I found out he was VERYrich,it made him look more attractive to me . Is this wrong?

You weren't wrong. A man who can take care of you is an attractive mate, even if he isn't physically attractive. If he was ugly and poor, he would have nothing to really make a first impression on you with. It's common for a girl to date an attractive man who is poor or unemployed. Personally, I think dating an ugly guy who is successful is the smarter choice.

You never know what someone's real personality is like until you start dating them - so people who say you're shallow are deluded about their own depth, unless they walk around accepting every date from every guy (or gal) who shows the remotest interest. Everyone needs -something- to catch your initial interest, and if it's not looks, they need an alternative - money works.

Yup. I think so. I think they even have a term for people like that.

And to boot... I am not deluded about my own interest as someone else stipulated.
I know that I am not interested in hideously ugly people... and money wouldn't change that. Additionally, the only thing that should change that would prolly be a very, very strong personality not just his owning gold and diamond mines.
That is without a shadow of a doubt shallow... not figuring out what you want in a person.

I don't think it's morally wrong. Who knows, he could only be attracted to you because of your looks, right? So if you're only attracted to him because of his money, how would that be more 'wrong' than just being superficial?

That said, it does show that you have a shallow side. A lot of relationship studies have confirmed that superficial and shallow people tend to be less happy in relationships because they focus on things which are not crucial to building a long-term relationship.

Loving relationships are built on trust, respect, and genuine caring for the other person. "In sickness and in health, for richer or poorer... etc." But who knows, maybe you'll fall in love with his personality after you get to know him? No one can say.

So I believe the question really isn't "Is this wrong?," but is "Will I be happy?" If you're happy being surrounded by a life of luxury and that's what's most important to you (and let's be honest, that is the case for a LOT of people), then go for it. Just be warned though - when your looks fade, he might just trade you in for a 'newer' model, just like you might trade him in for a richer guy when his money is gone.

Not any worse than deciding not to date him because he's ugly. It would only be wrong, to pretend to like him so you have access to that money. If what you're really asking us is "should i date him" go ahead. You might genuinely like him once you got to know him. If you're asking us something like "is it okay for me to date him?" then I would say no. If you can't feel innocent about it to your inner self, then you're violating your own integrity. Once you breach that, it's real hard not to keep going down that path. If you're asking exactly what your question already said, then I just judged you more harshly than I might have, as a direct result of your question, which though it would be "my bad" as the kids say, is telling in it's own way.

No one likes a gold digger, and they are generally looked down upon in society. Love is about attraction and feeling like you stick with someone forever, not if they have lots of money.
