Have a good reason when you speak to them
If you go to them, they might assign to to a different date.
Not sure how it works -- but its better than waiting for them to contact you --- contacting them youself looks better |

Call the jury office. Just tell them that you forgot. Be honest. Yes, there is a fine for missing jury duty...but if you call ASAP you probably will get by. |

contact the court and explain your situation. They may simply reschedule your jury duty. |

Don't let everyone freak you out. I missed jury duty too and I just called them and explained that I forgot and they rescheduled. It WAS NOT a big deal at all and I seriously doubt you will go to jail!!!!!!!! |

You have to provide a very good reason why you missed. I'd expect a little leniency from the system. |

Sounds like you are in a very bad situation just doesn't get much grimmer. Just try not to get caught between a rock and a hard place by tearing that tag off your mattress & pillow. Seriously, as long as it wasn't the O.J. trial, you will probably just get hard labor at State Penn. Pie & Cake Factory. |

Contact the court. Most likely, you will simply be assigned again. My brother was notified that he had missed jury duty (he did not recall ever receiving the original notice). He just called them and they assigned him another time to serve. Wasn't a problem. |

When you hear the doorbell, take a deep breath before you answer it.
Recently, in this area, a person simply did not show up for jury duty. She was arrested and imprisoned.
She served 7 days, and now has a record.
I'd turn myself in to the jury commissioner. You may be able to avoid jail time. BUT, if you miss it agin, you are doomed! |

you are probably in contempt of court.. Expect to pay a fine, or possible jail time.. usually only a couple days. Perhaps youll have a lienient judge and he will let you off...but i doubt it |

If it were up to me, I would throw you in jail for a few weeks. The judicial system depends on juries. This is what make it fair and just. It is particularly important that people from all walks of life are mixed into a jury - in order to reflect accurately the population.
You have a duty to your fellow citizens. How would you feel if one day you were in court, and a few of the jurors could not be bothered to turn up, thereby delaying your trial, or causing an imbalance on the jurors who would be strongly averse to the accused crime? |

Turn yourself in and plead your case. I hope you have a good reason to back it up. At least in doing this it will be better than being picked up. |

Uh oh, that's REALLY bad, you might actually go to jail for that. |
