No it isn't true, it is a scam. They will send you either cashier's checks, traveler's checks or money order and tell you to put them through your checking account, keep a certain amount for your salary and then wire the remainder to a third party. This is a money laundering scheme that is used to fund terrorists and get money for free.
The scam part is if you put it through your checking account, the cashier's checks/traveler's checks/money orders are very convincing counterfiets and so you will get stuck with a bank account that is overdrawn by thousands of dollars and it will ruin your credit.

The only mail I have received from Nigeria has been spam trying to get money out of me.
If you did not apply for a job then its spam, if you did you should contact the person who interviewed you to check. |

If you reply to it there will be a fee to pay for the "additional information". Once paid you will here no more. They will then have your bank details and will be in a position to plunder your account. If you e mail them they will know your e mail is live and you will get other "offers" and they could also then access your PC. It is a SCAM and you should delete it and forget it.
