I hope that this did not seriously happen....... Annyways, yes it makes complete sense to me and yes you did deserve to be fired for not ASKING him if you could. And also not waiting until AFTER work to go and see a movie..... |

off course it makes sense, you left the job site for two hours, what did you expect? |

yes. you deserved to be fired. |

Makes perfect sense. Fun/play comes after work. Not during. They can find someone else to do your job who'll not need a 'breather' and just do their job. |

lol I think any boss would fire an employee if they left during work hours with a work load waiting for them to complete. Why on earth do you think he wouldn't fire you? |
|

Alex C

Sure, if you left work without his agreement during working hours, I would have fired you too. |

Why didn't you wait till AFTER work? You're getting no sympathy from me.
EDIT: Is this a reference to how Yahoo! Answers constantly takes breathers, by any chance? Sounds kinda familiar... |

Is your work hold the major importance in your company. Usually including those reasonable guarantee satisfactions factors like money, benefit, bonus, attention, holiday, mortgage, etc. then you should be get fired. Or check your mobile whether any miss calls from your boss? If i am a boss of some people , I want my call to them to be answered every single times. |

Oh, sure!!!
if the boss wasn't paying you anything to begin with, it would not be too bad.
Love to see you "fire" that..uh... employee. |

What kind of job is this? Sounds like a joke question, really. Usually you can't leave work to go to the movies at all. Also, if that was possible, you'd probably want to talk to him in the first place, and not tell him or not go to the movies during the absurdly long break. So 1) you can't do that 2) writing a note and not telling your boss that you're doing it makes it worse. |

Yes he should have fired you, now you can pursue your dream of becoming a comedian. Yeah. |
|

Love!

Uh, yeah, you can't just leave work whenever you feel like it, and not do your crap, come on. Good thing he fired you, you're irresponsible. Maybe someone with some work ethic will get your old job. |

Is that you Barack?
Just tell your boss that the files were above your pay grade. |

I'm in Arizona a right to work state. An employer can fire you for almost any reason... so you have to be smart. If you are a hard working employee who needs a break, ask for time off ahead of time.. or at least put on a show like food poisoning. You could have taken a long lunch and had a car breakdown and call back. Remember this: No Call -No Show -No Job.
You boss was well in the right to let you go. |

Yes, it makes sense.
You can't just decide to leave work without permission. It's insubordination and reason enough to fire you for cause. |

Going to the movies during working time isn't a good idea. The right thing to do would be for him to give you a warning or a disciplinary hearing. Check your labour law and find out what it says. If he went against it then you can sue him because he done something illegal. Where I work, 2 warnings are given before being fired.
Good luck!
P.S. I see there's lots of idiots on yahoo answers. Most of these people said it's good that you got fired and were sarcastic but they are really dumb. The law can protect you, you know? |

Is this a serious question because it is obvious you would deserve to be fired. Did you even clock out? |

i think there should have been some sort of warning or probation or something...i don't think you should EVER be fired for a first offense of something... |
