I was asked to vacate my apartment?
Find answers to your legal question.

I was asked to vacate my apartment?

I,m being kicked out after being here at my apartment for one year the lease is up and i was asked to leave they will not give me a reason why Can they do this by law?

No one
Yes, because it is a lease situation and the lease is up for renewal, they do not have to agree to a renewal, and they owe you no explanation for not extending the lease.

Good Luck!!

Yes. But, that day you leave the apartment make sure you leave a big dump in the middle of the floor. Than trash talk him on craigs list.

They do not have to renew your lease. There may be many other reasons that you are not aware of nor are entitled to. I know moving is awful but you will probably find a place you like better.

Yes, Tim is right. Your landlord probably isn't required to give you a reason why... Have you asked? Read through your contract. Make sure they met their obligation with regard to the amount of time to give you notice. If you've been on good terms with your landlord and need a couple more days or so to get things squared away, they will probably be agreeable. Get any agreement in writing (it can be an informal agreement handwritten by you or the landlord).

There can be many reasons they don't want to give you a reason. Perhaps the building is going condo, perhaps they are getting a new leasing company, etc. But who knows. Good Luck.

This depends on the lease and if you are in Canada or U.S.A, In Canada there is usually an option to renew, If this is the case you should read you lease and consult a non-profit or Gov. agency to help you.

Good Luck

nothing
Reasons are always known, just not accepted as a valid reason by the person most negatively affected by it.

read the lease agreement you signed It probably states there that the company can opt not to renew the lease at their discretion and without disclosing the reasons.

It is perfectly legal.

By law, yet. Your lease if up, if there is nothing in the lease for automatic continuation of lease, or any other speak in the matter, they can let you go.

I would think the lease holder could give you a reason. If there's a fair housing watchdog group in your community, I'd seek their help in contacting this lease holder for answers.

Either that or call your local TV station (espicially if they have one of those "action reporters"): they love a good human interest story.

Examine your least contract. That will tell you what you need to know. If it does not specifically spell out the conditions under which they can do it, then get yourself a lawyer.

If you really have not done anything and they have not given you a reason, you need to contact your local apartment rental board to intervene on your behalf.

Yes. They own the property and are not bound by the law to let you reside there indefinately. The lease does protect you for the term that is stated in it. A lease is somewhat like a warranty. Only it protects both sides. The landlord is not required to give you a reason but is bound by law to give you a certain amount of time to vacate the premisis. This amount of time varies from one city/county to the next so you may need to check on that.

WELL BY LAW THEY HAVE TO GIVE A NOTICE AND IF YOU DONT COMPLY TO THE NOTICE THEN THEY WILL HAVE TO TAKE YOU TO COURT WHO WILL GIVE YOU A COUPLE OF DAYS TO LEAVE!

I think they can. It seems to me that as everyday citizens we don't have very many rights. And when we do, the lawyers take all we have! I am in a similar predicament about my work after being injured.

lol
what have you done?

Yes. It's not your apartment, it belongs to the landlord, and when the lease is up, it is the landlord's choice whether or not to continue leasing out the property he/she owns. By law, they have to give you notice and a certain amount of time, depending on where you're at, so make sure you're getting this time to search for a new place.
