I was threatened while on a horse? What should I have done?

I am a 23 year old girl. I was riding my horse through the woods today. And a teenage boy was walking beside me I DO NOT know him, he must have been headed for the same place as I was, he was 16 years old. The trail was very muddy, the mud came up to his knees. He asked me to let him ride the horse, I said NO. He was mad because I had one of the trail owners horses and they didnt lend him one, meaning he had no horse to ride. He then grabbed my leg very hard and squeezed. There are no police around, as this was way out in the country. He WOULD NOT stop grabbing my leg and waist. He squeezed very hard and it hurt, lastly, he hit my leg with his fist very hard. He would not stop doing this to me, he kept on and did not stop hitting and squeezing even when I screamed at him. SHOULD I have ran over him with the horse? Should I have hit him with the horse to defend myself? or should I just have let him keep doing that?? The horse did step on him and he calmed down a little, but kept on. Which do YOU think I SHOULD have done?? Run over him and kick him with the horse? Or just sit there and take it? Should I have let him sit on the horse in the first place?

You should have woken up immediately before you even had a chance to ask him how old he was. That is a nasty dream with all kinds of hidden meanings for the horse, the mud, the underage male, and all that grabbing violence.

Why didn't you run away on horseback? Horses can go much faster than people & you would've gotten away.

No, you should not have let him sit on the horse. I know that a horse goes faster than a person so my question is why didn't you just speed the horse up and leave him behind?
You should tell someone about it and press charges. What he did is assault.

Not letting him get on the horse was a smart move.
You don't know him, nor do you know what he would have done of he were to get on the horse.

However, why didn't you just kick him off and gallop away? I'm sure your horse could outrun a 16 year-old in knee-deep mud.

Also, why were you riding alone? If this was "way out in the country", why didn't you have a riding partner with you? This could have been a full grown man, who could have done much worse to you than pull your leg and waist.

No, you shouldn't have run him over with your horse. That could've seriously injured the kid, and, although that would've seemed like a good idea at the time, you would've regretted the decision later on.

You were on a horse, he was up to his knee's in mud, why didn't you just ride away from him? A horse, even in mud, is always going to be able to go quicker than a kid up to his knees in mud.

Did you advise the owner of the trail horse of the incident? If not, I suggest you do so. He may know the boy and be able to ensure that he doesn't behave in this manner again. If not, he could let the police know, but I think they would say exactly what I said, why didn't you just move away.

Also, report him to the horse's owners - just to make sure that he never does get to borrow one. I personally think that you should have gunned the horse on at full speed towards his belligerent ***.:) But that's just me.

Also, believe me. I ride horses. With proper positioning and a sudden swat to the butt, as in with a switch made from a thin tree branch, the horse will become startled and race towards whatever direction you point them to.
Additionally: No complaints are needed about using small switches. Horse hide is so thick that it's really more startling than painful.

well, if you did not know him it is reasonable that you did not want to be in the close proximity of riding on the horse togather. His violent reaction to your refusal shows that perhaps you made a good judgment call on that one. What he did can be classified as battery, and you could press charges, since he is a juvenile he probably wouldnt get in much trouble, but he would still face the law.

The best thing probably to have done would have been to spur the horse to a trot to get out of his reach. Since we didnt witness it firsthand its hard to say what best to have done, but to try to get away without harm to you and as little harm to him as possible would be best.

Running over him would not have been possible because horses will not understand what you are asking them to do. Hitting with a horse would be as impossible as running over. Kick him or kick the horse so that you could have gotten away from that boy. Report it to the police! ( Remember what he looks like in height ,Weight,hair colour and age) Running away would be easiest since you were on horseback but you should have called for help! ( With a whistle or cell phone) And report it to the police!

you should still call the cops and give a statement they will take a description. You should have defended yourself anyway you could. don't sit and take something like that. but please call the cops and and let the stable owners know about it too. They might know who was on their trail. Please don't just sit back. this way if some one else is bothered by this guy there is another report on it too.

The safest place for you to be is on top of a horse. Who knows what would have happened if you'd gotten off the horse, he doesn't seem like a good person that's for sure. Yeah, you should have ran him over with the horse.
You should press charges too, if you haven't already done so.

You did the right thing. Just because someone is violent, does not mean you have to go there. Now, you can do nothing or you can file a police report for assault and battery and harassment so that this doesn't happen to another woman. If you don't, trust me, he will do it again. and again. and again.
