so they were complaining about the treatment of the animals in the circus.... (i understand that they are very well treated and in fact loved alot but anyway) Now many of these people are in fact for a womans right to chose. does this make any sense at all?

Very astute observation.
Life is life. Period.
I see the same contradiction when people who are pro life are also in favor of the death penalty.
I used to be a PETA member. I am staunchly pro life, and I am also against the death penalty. |

They are NUTJOBS.....no logic to anything they do, or say.
Peta once came to a dog show here in town and went around opeinng crates.....numerous dogs were hit by cars, or nearly hit by cars..petas statement claimed they felt the dogs were better off dead than to have to continue an exploited slaves existance among human owners...... yea, they really said that. So I guess the unborn babies have less right to life than...dogs now?

You are right, it doesn't make much sense. At a certain point a baby will feel pain if it is killed. And if you kill even a young fetus it is taking a life.
However, it's also hard to say that eliminating a bunch of cells that have grown together is killing a baby.
It probably depends on the PETA Members and each individuals' stance on abortion. If they are totally for abortion in any trimester - even the last trimester then it is very hard to understand. If they are only for abortions in the early stages of pregnancy then that is a little more reasonable.
I love animals and do not want them to be mistreated. But what about the millions of humans who are abused? Maybe that's another question... |

They are for the humane treatment of animals. Anyone willing to kill an unborn baby is an animal. Therefore, they are for the humane treatment of themselves?
Seriously, there are philosophical arguments over levels of cognitive activity and pain recognition being greater in many adult animal species that are lacking in first and second trimester fetuses. I'm not saying I agree, but Peter Singer has voiced these views for decades. |
