A friend came 2 me asking 4 help with rental property he want 2 rent - 2 sale clothing that he had. The agreement was that would not be responsible for the rent ,I was only helping by signing the lease with his name as well,2 get the store,he stop paying rent he was evicted for stop payment of store rent,I was sue for 7months of rent.

Yes it would be your responsibility to go after him for the money. The store had the agreement with you and you had the agreement with him. I wouldn't do that again if I were you. |

If you had that agreement in writing then you can join your friend in the suit.
However, here is what it going to happen. Most states follow Joint and Several liability. That means that the plaintiff can get his full 7 months rent from you and then YOU have to go get it back from your friend. |

You have two different things going on here, both are separate. The first is your agreement with your friend, the second is the lease the you and your friend signed for the store.
Your agreement with your friend has nothing to do with the lessor's right to hold you accountable for the rent owed to him, as you agreed to be responsible by signing the lease. The lessor can sue any one or both of you. I'm guess you were the easiest one to find, so he sued you, and if the lawsuit has concluded, I'm assuming you lost and have to pay.
Now you have the agreement with your friend. You can now sue him for his portion of the lease. You can present your original agreement, but you're probably going to get a judgment for fifty percent of what you had to put out to the lessor against him. |

You can sue the other guy, probably for only 1/2 of it though since you guys signed it together. |
