I am getting my tinted windows removed tomorrow and I was told that my tickets would be thrown out if I can get some sort of signed paper from a mechanic or person doing it saying that my car is now tint free? Is that true? The cops just gave me the tickets but told me that if I get the tints taken off that they will throw out the tickets. How do I prove I got them taken off then? By my receipt.

Depends on State law.
In my State, if you get a fix-it ticket and show proof to the court on or before the due date the ticket goes away - although you have to pay an administrative fee.
Also, in my State, in addition to the shop receipt, you have to get a cop to physically examine the car and sign off the back of the ticket.

Was it a fix-it ticket or an actual ticket? A fix-it ticket gives you a date by which you have to "fix" what you were ticketed for, and you just have to mail proof of the fix to the courthouse by the specified date. |

This may not be true. However, bring the receipt AND your vehicle to the police station and ask them. They usually require that an officer go check your vehicle to see that the tint is removed. But, it is possible that they will do this. Many jurisdictions will not, but some will. It doesn't hurt to try. Just bring your car with you, as well as the receipt for the removal of the tint. |
