Why do you want to know if it's ilegal if you yourself said it was? However, I suppose it depends on what you will do while wearing it. Like, if you were in a satire about Americia being horible, yeah, people would mind. If you were raising money to support the troops, or something like that, then people would think it was a good idea. |

Here are a couple of excerps from the flag code that apply to what you've asked.
The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It
should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to
fall free.
the Flag Code
does not prescribe any penalties for non-compliance nor does it include enforcement
provisions; rather the Code functions simply as a guide to be voluntarily followed by
civilians and civilian groups.

It's not "illegal" per se, but it is definitely a violation of flag etiquette and the US Flag Code. The American Flag is not to be worn as clothing or have anything laid upon it. Some people take this so literally that they feel that American flag ties or similar accessories are improper. |

Wearing the flag as an item of apparel is a violation of the US Flag Code, a federal law, but there is no established penalty for it. Doing so, however, does make you a commie scumbag in my book. (Did I really say that??) Show a little respect for this symbol of my country, please! |

I would say- try it and see.
As long as you wont jump from tall buildings like some superheroine, even just pose on top of a ledge.
Put the cape on when you get to the party , not on the way there. |

Is it to disrespect the country? Personally, I think it's a retarded law, unless you're desecrating the flag.
Who cares whether it's legal? Do it anyway, you only live once! |

As long as you do not deface or defame the American flag, then go ahead and wear it. |

The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.
so yes but it rarely happens
it is an old rule |

Yes it is illegal to wear the American flag in any way. But you could make a cape and put the print of the American flag on it. Why not do that, rather than taking a chance and getting yourself into trouble. |

like obvs theres that flag code but its your freedom of speech u can do it they wont arrest u or anything |

I doubt it's illegal. If some commie turd can burn it, why can't you wear it with pride. You already know some of the etiquette that goes with the flag, like not allowing it to touch the ground.
I say go for it with pride |

I have seen people wear the Mexican, as well as the Russian flag and no one said anything to them, but give them blank stares. Honestly if you were faced with a soldier that would be considered disrespect. One must respect one country, and wearing the flag as a cape is not the best option. |

As long as the g-string with flag on it isn't showing too much of your a.s.s. cheeks you should fine......... super hero. |

Yes, it's disrespectful, and (I think) illegal... although I've seen many people do it and don't ever get in trouble. It's just one of those things that you're not likely to get in trouble for. |
