If the penalty for rape is death, it would make detection less likely if the rapist killed his victim. It wouldn't make rapists think twice, it would make them kill their victims. What further penalty could be exacted for the murder?

Rape is a horrible crime, but murder is worse. If there were to be a death penalty (which I don't agree with) it should be reserved for only the most serious crime - murder.

It all comes down to whether we can ever be 100% sure that they did it. There are far too many cases where a person ends up locked up for X years and then gets released as their conviction is overturned.

As long as we can have mistakes, I will disagree with the death penalty.

I don't agree with the death penalty, even with terribile, terrible crimes like rape, purely because I think death's too good for them. I think if someone makes someone else suffer that much, they should be made to suffer themselves, and it's for that reason that I think he should be given a sentence.

I don't agree with the death penalty in any situation. Not because of the inhumanity of it but because the criminal doesn't suffer like they've made others suffer. If they're dead, that's it. If they're rotting away in a prison cell FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE, then I'd think justice was being served. Just them and their conscience.

Of course, my theory falls down when it comes to unrepenting criminals, but if they truly aren't sorry then I think the death penalty should be dealt. Preferably in a painful and humiliating way.

For rape the appropriate punishment would be castration. If not that, then a sentence that keeps him locked away until he is too old or too sick to do it again. I have heard too many stories about rapists getting out of prison and repeating the crime.

If the rape is a clear cut, no doubts fact, I think the man should be castrated. If he rapes a child 13 and under he should be killed. In other, not totally provable cases, a sentence or even not guilty should be appropriate.

I'd agree with the Islamic law. I mean, just imagine 'that woman' was your sister, wife, mother, who was raped, would you not want this person dead?

Death for what ? Just for raping someone that's silly. You only give a death sentence to someone who kills not rape.

I am a forensic investigator and most of the time it is a sentence but depending on how many times he has done this and how death penalty can be a option.

I've done cases when he killed and tortured the victim and they gave him lethal injection. And some times they know the victim and sometimes they are hand picked in a dark alley.

No rapist has ever gotten away from my eyes. I will find the them. I will find murderers, arsonist you name it and I've found them and prosecuted against them. I never lost a case.

If you are a guy rapist there is always semon samples and that means your DNA is left behind. So you can not escape.
