Do you mean he replaced a fence that previously held your dog with one that doesn't?
Complain to him, for one. Ask him to replace it back with the old fence, or put something else to reinforce the new fence to keep the dog in (and maybe keep the mutt chained for a few days in the meantime). You could also repair it yourself -- or at least fill in the holes so the dog doesn't escape. If your neighbor can mess with the fence, so can you, right?
If that doesn't work, you can file some kind of complaint with the housing board or zoning office in your area. if THAT doesn't work, you could also potentially get a restraining order. |

If it's his fence (he paid for it), and the old one was also his, then it is not his responsibility to keep your dog in -- it is yours. He can have openings in his fence if he wants to. |

Wait.....before the fence was put up, the dog couldn't get out? But now after the fence is up, it can?
If the fence is on his property, there's nothing you can do about it unless he's violating some kind of local ordinance or homeowner association rule. |

Did he tear down the original fence? On whose property is the fence? On whose property was the original fence? Who paid for the installation of the original fence? The best thing to do that is not illegal is to install a parallel fence on your property to keep the dog in your yard. |

You do not need a building permit to put up a fence as far as I know. Your neighbor does not have to tell you what he wants to do with his fence. If the fence is not a code violation he can do what he pleases. You on the other hand are legally bound to control YOUR own animal and make sure Your dog does not get out of YOUR yard. I suggest you put up your own fence. |

have you tried talking to your neighbor? i think that may be the best idea. |

Your dog is YOURS to control. If the fence was his, then you were really doing nothing yourself to keep your dog in your yard. You were just relying on the neighbor's fence to do your job. It is not illegal for your neighbor to reconstruct his fence in whatever form he wants, really, as long as it is within code for your community. You will have to come up with another way to keep your dog in the yard by either constructing your own fenced area or with a dog run. Both would allow your dog to run around without getting out. |

You can put up your own fence, it's not your neighbors responsibility to keep your dog in your yard.
It would have been nice to know they were taking down their fence and putting up a new one, but they don't have to tell you. |

grrr aren't neighbors great. You are allowed to put up anything you want to stop your dog from escaping as long as you put it on your side of the property and get your city/county permits to do it. |

see if your neighbor will patch up the spaces, or keep and eye on your dog, maybe keep him on a leash... |

if the neighbor replaced HIS fence..he is not responsible for your dog or your property.. you are. aside from putting up your own fence, or putting yout dog a tether.. theres nothing you can do. |

I would talk to the neighbor to see if anything can be done to fix the issue. Perhaps offer to pay for the changes. Other than that if he paid for the fence you might be out of luck |

Plug up the space.
The fence, even though your neighbor paid for it, should be partly on your line.
First tell the neighbor (unlike he did to you)....ask him to fill in spaces.........if he doesn't respond, then write a letter for a paper trail, then fill in the spaces, with "chicken wire".....he'll probably yell and scream, but you gave him options. Unlike he gave you. |

It not your neighbors responsibility to make sure your dog stays in your yard. If you want your dog to stay in your yard put up your own fence or put in one of those invisible fences. |

depends on your city/county regulations. go down to the local office and check these regulations. |

block the open spaces with something really tacky so they get the idea. For instance, you could put up a neon pink fencish thing in every open space. |

see if he had a building permit then have the county come down on him for not having one if he didn't. |

you can put up some pieces that he left out. and he say some
thing about it tell him that he left a opening in the fence and
my dog gets out. so I put some pieces up in the opening. and
if he does not like it to bad. |
