If a website has episodes of a TV show available to download is it legal to download from them?

The website claims that it is completely legal to download these episodes. Should they be trusted? The website is wtso.net.

These websites are exploiting a loophole in the law.

1. A website like say Craigslist.org or Youtube.com is not responsible for what their users post on their websites. They only remove content that violates their user agreements as it is made known to them. They don't and can't do 100% enforcment of their policies.

So someone can upload a lot of copywrited material onto a website and that website is not held responsible.

2. The websites that offer free downloads do not actually have the downloads on their websites. They are merely referring you to a direct link to another website. So they too can not be held responsible. Since it is not illegal to tell people where to find the links to download illegal movies.

3. A lot of people who upload all these illegal content are in other countries and sometimes even based off shore where there is no law against uploading copywrited work. Or they are in other countries where US Law can't touch them.

So that is how they are doing it.

The website you go to just provides the links (but does not have any actual content on its servers), a website used for storage holds all the illegal files but can't be held responsible for what other people upload, and the people uploading all these illegal files are far removed from the reach of US Law.
