The person will probably be at least reprimanded or suspended, if not disbarred. But if they are basically flaunting that they are unethical in a media press release online, (which you just happen upon) even if they stupidly do not understand why what they are saying violates ethics rules, and they say they intend to continue, is it wrong to notify the appropriate State Bar licensing authority? There seems to be a conflict between letting people live their lives, and people being outrageously unethical in your face. (Let's just say the attorney admits that they are talking to judges ex parte about their pending cases)

The law is a self-policing profession and, as such, is subject to abuse. You have a duty to your fellow citizens and to uphold the integrity of the judicial system. In my opinion, a good citizen would report an unethical attorney to the Disciplinary Board of the State Bar. |
