Nope, in fact there'd probably be more. Look at drugs, they are illegal and people overdose daily. The fact that something is illegal makes it more in demand to the criminal.

no, because the people who go on shooting rampages are not exactly law-abiding citizens. If they're willing to commit mass-murder I somehow doubt they'll be deterred just because owning a gun is illegal.

No, but if guns were totally unavailable, that is if guns didn't exist, then it certainly would be a different matter. The more weapons that are available, the more murders & killings that will be committed.

I would like to think so. While not every one that uses a gun is a coward without one, there are a significant amount of people in our society who possess what I believe to be that Superman complex, where with that gun in their hand they can not only say and do what they want, with what they believe is impunity; they act on this belief also. Moreover, because many don't know how to fight without guns many would practice a little more conflict resolution. Finally, a wise man once said that, "the best way to get others to disarm, is to disarm yourself".

No... Guns don't kill people. People kill people. people are gonna do what they have to do irregardless of wither they have something as convent as a gun or not. If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

If guns were illegal for everyone, even police officers, you would get less "hot headed" killings like the one in Wisconsin on Sunday. If that guy hadn't owned a gun, he wouldn't have been able to kill those people so quickly. However, while you would have less of these killings, you would have more criminals shooting people because they can get away with it, since they are the only ones who have guns.

no, just because it is illegal doesn't mean you still can't get it for the right price. marijuana is illegal but you can still get cocaine is illegal and you can stil get it. it would make people who follow the laws easier targets because the bad guys who paid top dollar to get an illegal gun know you don't have a gun so you will be easy prey for them.

I am an American socialist. I would argue that there is no legitimate reason to disarm an adult who is not actually in jail or is not right now under psychiatric treatment.

Further, there should be no restrictions on where you carry it, or how -- openly or concealed. And there should be no distinction made between semi-auto or full auto.

Getting rid of them ALL is just not an option. Big business has their private guards and the cops (who they own) armed. The Nazis, the KKK, and the New Federalists are armed. The Crips, the Bloods and the Mafia are armed. The Christian antiabortion terrorists and the Islamic fundamentalists are armed. Every sleazy, drunken off-duty cop who wants to prove he's a "man" is armed.

I want workers, small businesspeople, minorities, gays, and women armed, too. When they are not, oppression follows.

No. Because if you outlaw guns for police and the general populace then only criminals and organized crime will have them.

And all you have to do is look at the situation in Mexico where organized crime leaders terrorize the population with guns daily to see that it doesn't work.
