Down. In towns and cities with high rate of carry permits crime goes down.
Criminals carry guns anyway. They are less likely to commit a crime if they think the old lady they are about to roll is packing. I read a story about a small diner that was being robbed. 2 guys/customers at the counter were armed. when the waitress refused to open the register and give him the money he threatened to start shooting customers. Instantly the armed guys at the counter were now in fear for their life, drew their weapons and sent him straight to hell. Self defense. It will make criminals think twice. |

guns are legal and just about anyone can get them, unless you have a record. yes crime would go down if more people carried firearms. |

They are legal where I live, more then 57% of the state population are gun owners and we have a very low crime rate. Does that answer your Q? |

Crime would go down, there would be too much risk involved in everything so it wouldn't be worth it to the criminals |

crime would go down. look at the wild west where practically everyone carried a gun, crime rates back then were minimal. you committed a crime then and you had a greater chance of someone blowing you away. There is a town in Colarado where it is required that everyone older than twelve have gun training. That town has the lowest crime rate in the USA. |

Depends. It's a variable situation, depending on many, many things.
I'd say in my town, it could break even. It's not a bad place, but it's not a good place either. But I think I might feel less safer with people carrying guns all around here. |

I agree with the first guy, but then again there are people who should never hold a gun and would act impulsively with it which could lead to alot of people getting hurt/killed. |

even it was made legal i don't think the majority of people would carry one. But if made legal i'm sure there would be more people carrying guns and i don't think it would have that much impact on the crime rate. There will always be crime. The people that would commit these crimes would be putting themselves at greater risk however and would most likely be killed or injured. |

There's more to it that simply owning a gun. People need to be taught how to use guns. How to respect the use of a gun. What is the right way and what is the wrong way to use a gun.
Some people have hot tempers. What's going to happen when they have a gun handy? Will they be able to control themselves? If they got into fist fights before, will they get into gun fights now?
As with anything, it's not that simple. Some crimes will go down. Others will go up. |

It would go down in some areas and up in some areas.
And in the area's that it would go up, the crimes would be more bloody. |

Absolutely no difference in crime rate over time. Rates may drop initially, but would climb again.
For confirmation find the dates that Texas and Florida approved non concealed handgun carrying and see what their crime rates were before and now. |

Eventually it would go down because so many people would get shot the population would crash and therefor crime would saturate. lol. cool question! |

crime would go up.....ppl would get scare or be mad and resort to guns.....which would cause alot of accidental injuries and deaths......
what they need to do is put bullet prices at like $5000....there would be no more bystanders getting shot..nobody wants to waste that much money and miss..if u get shot it would be cuz u did something...hahahahahaa |

clearly homicides would shoot way up.
with every idiot having a gun,
and every hot tempered nut wanting to settle a score,
it sure wouldn't be a place i'd like to be. |

definitely go up. especially for the wackos outthere would use that law to their advantage.
I disagree. if everyone had guns, if one shot a person, then the other person would use his/her gun to shoot that person, and a domino effect would occur.
i don't quite get it how would it go down? so you mean if a criminal shot a person, then a typical passer-by would have to avenge by shooting too. so it would mean that crime rates would go down because guns causes hostility, right? |
