I went to court today for resisting arrest and open alcoholic container charges and the judge asked me if i wanted a jury trial and i said yes thinking it was a good idea so i would have time to get somebody to defend me but now realize it wasnt. Can i change my mind and have just one person decide if im guilty or not. Thanks for all answers.

I'm confused as to why you would rather have one judge decide your guilt than 12 jurors who must agree (and agree beyond a reasonable doubt).
That's your business, though.
You can change your mind, but if you do it at the last minute the judge isn't going to be very happy with you.
*Edit--It would be up to the judge whether to allow you to waive a jury trial. There are a number of factors to consider. You would PROBABLY be allowed to change your mind.* |

yes, you can waive your right to trial by jury. You need to let the prosecution and the court know that you have reconsidered as soon as possible.
Keep in mind that you can't change your mind again and still get the jury trial. Once waived, it is difficult if not impossible to exercise your right to jury trial. |

Yes you can change your mind but if you do, the only person deciding your innocence or guilt will be a judge. |
