You will need to get whats called a PAL, minimum to buy any firearm.

All you need is to register it. You don't need a license for CHIT!!

I don't think you need a license to buy a riffle, but I don't know how you hunt with one....

It depends on what state you are residing in. In CA, you will need a firearm safety course, then you will have to register you gun. If you are buying it online, you will need to find a gun store that would do a transfer for you. Of course there is a cost. Cost runs around 25 to 100 USD. You will have to wait about 10 days or 14 days once the gun has arrived.
