Yes, I believe it would drop significantly |

Doubt it. Many people commit crimes simply because they figure they will continue getting away with it. They will just figure they will continue gettiing away with not being publicly executed, in the same way they believe they will not be put in jail. Higher stakes, same game. |

I believe it would complicate law enforcements already difficult Job.
Many people who are caught either turn themselves in, or are turned in by someone they know. If we had public executions it would increase the amount of fugitives from the law and create an air of suspicion between confidential informants and the police. Many people alreay dislike police and law enforcement in general. Public executions would make it exponentially worse. |

No, those that commit crimes actually believe that they will not be caught. |

I personally do not think this would change the crime rate for good or bad. We do have the death sentence but it's not public. Why would publicly executing someone, as opposed to privately executing someone, affect the decisions people make before committing such crimes. In both cases publicly and privately those on death row will die, I don’t think it makes much difference to them if a couple more people see their death.
Furthermore I don’t think this idea would pass. Given that most of America would be against public execution. That’s taking a few steps back in time(steps being decades). |

I think to respect to the criminal, NO. We are not a barbaric society, like others around the world, that show public executions, we are better than that, we don not execute, we end their life in the most humane way we can. |

i dont think it would.
I mean people watch people get the injections so why would it change the crime rate. All they see is what could happen to them.
It would just revolt people and they would be disgusted to be able to see people publically put to death. |

A blank!

Yes I do,
also it could go pay per view and fund projects according to their crimes. |

Yes it would plummet. people are way too full of pride to be embarrassed like that. however some nutz would would murder just to b on tv, like all these recent morons who shoot up schools and malls. |

Shouldn't the threat of being executed be enough? No, public executions will change nothing. As long as there is sin in the world there will be crime, at the same or an increased rate. |

i wish i could say yes but the answer is no...plus with some states outlawing the death penalty we are going to have more people going to prison and saying there for life and draining our resources...i think if u commit an unjustified murder you should be placed on death row where you have exactly one year to prove your innocence...if the court still finds you guilty then you should be executed the exact way your victim was executed...no mercy |

Yes, I think crime would drop dramatically. |

not likely
but changing over to a police state should do the trick |

Maybe not. Most criminals think they have the perfect plan and won't get caught. Most criminals are just plain stupid. They would not get the connection between execution and what they are doing. |

yes....
i think it would still exist, but i think the numbers would drop a lot, and people who did comitt crime would be more careful not to get caught. |

It would make for much better Reality -TV! |

Of course. Children seeing criminals being disemboweled before a baying crowd will learn so MUCH about freedom, democracy and civilization, and about how violence is always the answer.
Oh no, wait - we don't want that last bit. Make that and how killing your enemies in the must gruesome way possible is sanctioned by the state. Damn! Wait, I've got it - that a police state run by fear is so much better than any other form of government! |

Oh yeah. Also they should be executed the day after their final appeal. IT would help with deterrence |

Yes... except for the fact that our government would be committing the crime of using "cruel and unusual punishment"... |

Yes, personally.
Although it'd send everyone into complete fear, eh?
I don't thnk it'd be a good idea, even if it would help change the crime rate. |
