If papers are trying to be served on me can i get in trouble if i dont receive them?

this is from a credit card company that has gone to my parents home to serve the papers but they have told them i dont live there (which i dont i live across the country in cali). but i was unsure that even though they dont no where im at can i get into trouble?

No, a judgment will be handed down to the plaintiff since you the respondent wasn't present in the court at the time of judgment. It's only a matter of time before they do find you and then if your debt remains unaddressed, they can file for a contempt hearing, a lean against property, or wage garnishments. In all likelihood, they'll offer you a settlement to collect a lower total. If that comes, take it and settle.
