If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the school in the strip-search case?

Would you consider taking your kids out of school and home-schooling them? I think it's probably a moot point because I can't see this court siding with these psychotic school officials, but you never know. If this ever happened to my kid, I would physically assault the principal, and when I got out of jail, the first thing I'd do is go straight to his house and beat him within an inch of his life again.

I probably would not pull my kids out of school. I have no patients to teach them myself, and can't afford private school. But, I would make the school administrations life extreme hell.
I didn't find this in your article, but here is one from the AP. There is one paragraph I found really interesting:
"A 1985 Supreme Court decision that dealt with searching a student's purse has found that school officials need only reasonable suspicions, not probable cause. But the court also warned against a search that is "excessively intrusive."
Legally, "reasonable suspicion" is less than "probably cause". In other words, schools need less of a reason to search backpacks and purses than the police would. In this case, another student pointed a finger at her and said she got the ibuprofen from this girl, and that was "reasonable suspicion". But, if one person pointed a finger at me and told the police I was selling meth from my house, that would not be "probable cause" for a non-warrant search. The police would have to get a judge to sign off.
Another interesting part of this paragraph is the "excessively intrusive" warning from the 1985 case. Hopefully the Court will consider this when they rule. I can't think of anyone that would find a strip search not to be excessively intrusive. The only thing that would have been more intrusive is if they did a cavity search also. |

For me it's not so much a question of whether strip searches are allowed or not, but whether it is reasonable to conduct a strip search looking for ibuprophen.
I mean I could buy a strip search in the event that someone was suspected of being in possession of a weapon. However, even then it should not be conducted by school staff and should be the realm of a law enforcement officer. |

Guess we can see how kids end up the way they do,
IN my generation, I'd have been the one who got my butt kicked for being in a position where I would even be considered for such an action, |

I already homeschool my children.
I hope and pray that the court rules in favor of the LAW which does not allow searches and seizures without probable cause and a warrant, and that they rule in favor of HUMAN RIGHTS, which even a child on school grounds is entitled to. They also circumvented parental rights, where the parents should have been notified and supplied permission before this was ever carried out.
I am thankful that my children are homeschooled, because I am certain that from the things my niece has been the victim of in this ONE school year, and the things I hear on the news and here at Yahoo! Answers, that I would be in jail if my children were the victims of such incidents. |
