I don't think gay marriage is akin to polygamy or any of the rest of it. I think marriage should continue to be between to consenting adults.

If gay marriage is granted due to "civil rights", yes, it should cover polygamy and incest (between adults) as well.

If gay marriage is granted due to cultural acceptance, then no, polygamy and incest are separate entities. This would be similar to community standards for nudity, obsenity, and separation of men's and women's bathrooms, all of which change as cultures change. But then, the courts should stay out of it.

Most gay marriage activists win uninformed supporters by calling this a civil rights cause, but stop short of truly supporting this concept by opposing (or failing to fight for) polygamist rights. It cracks me up when they say "it isn't the same", but completely fail to show why it isn't. (Watch how many "thumbs down" I get for saying this!)

By the way, the LDS is the least of the communities that would want polygamy. Many other cultures celebrate polygamy, and will gladly push for legalization in the US. Wait for a sheik to push for legal polygamy with the same "equal protection" clause so he can import his entire harem into the US, and watch "pro-gay marriage" Americans become the "bigots". And if tax and inheritance laws continue to favor marriage financially, multiple and incestual marriage would be a growing concept in mainstream America as well. Not to mention immigration and naturalization considerations.

LOL I fail to see how gays relate to the LDS. Two people in love should be able to marry, period. Pologamy is legal in some states. Marrying people any age is not, they have to wait until the state says it is legal for them to marry. But if someone is older, they can just wait to be married to someone younger. Gays are looking at a uncertain future of whether or not they will ever be able to get married at all.

Your gender is much different issue than your age. If 2 guys wanna marry each other, who gives a ****. I wouldn't want to marry a guy, but its not like they are gonna go around infecting everyone with the "gay". Why does it even bother you, what two men do together?

Yes, I do believe they should also allow people to marry whom ever they wish, as long as they are of the legal age of consent. Your suggestion of people of any age will not work because a minor would not be able to legally consent to marriage. So this stops the pedophiles and child predators from taking advantage of this while still ensuring equal protect under the law.

And as the person above me stated, equal protection under the law will not result in all those bad things. He/she is trying to spread fear through their lies.
