If there was NO LAW what percent of the population would take advantage of there being NO LAW?

NO JAIL time+NO bad reaction to anything you did wrong because there would be NO right or wrong?

The law doesn't change morality, and we can always shoot someone who is too abuse if the law allows such activity.

75%

25% of people will steall anything that isn't nailed down, and lie down beside that which is and claim it as their own.
50% will steal something if it has value to them and they think that they can get away with it.
25% would not steal anything.

That will be 2 points, please.

roughly the same percentage that takes advantage even though there is a law......... but really.... if there is no law then what would you be taking advantage of?

I'd kill my ex-wife in a NY second.

Oh, you mean like politicians? Well, I think about 100% of them are crooks, so I'd have to say at least 80% of the general population. There are after all SOME good and truly honest people out there.

100% because there is no such thing as a perfect person who does no wrong.

You seem to be implying that there would be no wrong. People have lived on morals before without law and DID have a concept of right and wrong. If you actually mean how many would take advantage of having no penalty for wrongdoing, that's different.

there is always a reaction to every action. Law has nothing to do with it, it would be worse then you could imagine. All though I think people like to be rebellious and act tough, if someone wanted to rob someone else with no chance of lock up. Is stupid. Because, the LAW protects the criminals from society.
Think about it. Now, ask this question to yourself and come up with a conclusion. with out law and order, lies no law and order.

If there was NO LAW, then it would not exist to be taken advantage of.

Uh, wow. I don't think I would kill anybody.

It is kind of like Lord of the Flies. I think that many would take advantage of no law, but eventually there will be so much madness and mayhem that we would all crave some sort of organization, and create our own laws.

LOL And that is why I would like to be Miss America. Thank you.

everyone. i know what i would do if there were no laws. i would kick some girl's butt for hitting on my bf cause she couldnt get me for assault and battery... with a bat ;)

The Joker
I would say A LOT would. But then again, people are taking advantage of the law already. Every country should raise the bar on law to very high standards. By doing this, a country can achieve better results. But, if the country sets its laws to a low standard, people go lower than whats expected because the standards are low. So, to answer your question, I believe more than 50% would take advantage of the NO LAW.

Diana C
I strongly think 90% because there are some people that are very religious and wouldn't EVER EVER steal or do bad things. Like muslims. It's part of their religion. And for them, religion controls their life instead of law, but in this case, no law.

I don't think that's how it would work out at all. Man remains a social animal. More likely, we would reorganize ourselves in smaller groups or communities, something resembling a tribal system. An extremely disruptive person would most likely face banishment, like people did who lived in Indian tribes in Precolumbian America.

beez
We would have rampant 'lawlessness' and not just in the White House.

STEVEN F
100% AND 0%. Criminals already ignore the laws we have. Everyone would do things that are currently illegal, but harm no one. If you don't think you broke any laws today, you just don't know something you did is illegal.

It would be the same has it is now , I believe in people and I believe that the good people would stay good right up until the bad people messed with them and theirs !

The bad people would still be bad !

It is already a bad enough world as it is , Its just a damn shame that most of the crooks in the world ...are POLITICIANS !!!

i don't think it'd be very high. laws reflect the society, so in other words, those that would break what are now laws would become social outcasts and looked down upon by society. also, you'd have to remember that no law means that people can retalliate back with nothing happening to them. so in other words, you steal something and the owner will probably beat you to a bloody pulp. if you kill someone, you'd have his/her entire family seeking vengance on you, etc. so there would be punishments, they'd just be vigilante, like the old west. and in the old west, there were bad spots, but a good majority of the places were fairly decent to live in.

Well, it's hard to say what would happen because if such a world existed where the was no right and wrong we would not think as we do.

If this is not an obvious answer enough I shall elaborate.

We homo sapiens have a genetic propensity towards forming and enforcing morals (Sure, one may say there are very rare exceptions such as sociopaths, but even those individuals don't want certain things happening to them. Things they, themselves, would label as 'wrong'.). Therefore a world as your question describes would not exist with us in it. And our brains, which have said propensity, are not capable of honestly postulating such an existence. So any answer you get from anyone will not be accurate.

Now, I would like to address your question w/o the extra comments to it. Focusing on just having a law or no law at all.

First off, I don't think it'd be considered 'taking advantage of' if the law did not exist. However, if what you mean is "what percentage of the population would do things that are against the law now, if they became legal, or if 'illegal' and 'legal' didn't exist? I would say %100; everyone.

Everyone that lives in a law filled society does something at some point that violates some rule of that society. Whether it be as simple as not always using a turn signal, or robbing an old woman of her purse for money to spend on a heroin addiction. You show me a person that has never broken a single law in their life, and I will show you a lier.

Hope you come up with better 'what ifs' to consider in the future. This one was rather simplistic and lame. Though I have no doubt of your capabilities of deeper thought, I just think you fail to exercise them enough, just like all of us poor, conditioned creatures.

Dan S

About 30% would commit crimes which would inspire another 30% to commit crimes.

The problem is that 100% of the people would have to protect themselves and that would be by a crime. Sure you can buy a gun legally, but what if your attacker has an RPG, or a machine gun. And if someone won't stop trying to rob you just because you have a gun, you will have to murder a few of the crooks before they get the idea and move on to an easier target.

Okay, some people may not commit any crimes, but they will quickly be killed off or enslaved.

The law in a lawless society will be that you will have to break the former laws just to survive. Eventually, as the weak are killed off the number will be 100%.
