my girlfriend's mom called the cops on her, when she went out one night to stay with a friend. if the cops are called, is it legal for them to bring her back home even though she's 18???

If she is an adult and not incompetent, the cops will offer he a ride home but generally will not force her to go. On the other hand, the cops are not required to believe her when she says she is an adult.
Of course, when she shows up on her own, the parents do not have to let her in or support the adult offspring in any way, including paying college tuition, but that was not your question. |

As long as what ever she is doing is legal no. They have no right to just up and grab somebody to take them home at age 18 unless there are some sort of suspicious things going on =] |
